Protest for Jack....

Featured Replies

Feel free to call me a [censored] with this idea, but I'm thinking that since the club backed Trengove up and we've back him online, I reckon if we want to make a real statement that this decision is wrong not just for Jack but for the game itself we should do some kind of protest before the game on Saturday.

The only reference I can think of that we can start from is the Melbourne victory fans turning their backs on the ground prior to a game (v NZ from memory). I'm not saying this the one we specifically go for but if anyone has ideas and wants to do this I'm open to it.

It's a shame it's not at the G where our fans would've been more prominent and stood out.

Buy a Collingwood guernsey and modify your Dee's guernsey, I side Melbourne, other side prison bars.

A better option would be just to wear a black band seen as football has officially "died"

hmmm not a bad idea at all, worth persuing

the players should where the black arm band with rip tackle on it

Good thinking, black band, white text RIP Tackle. I reckon i'll do that, someone who has twitter should suggest it to the boys... obviously without the wording or else we'll get another "Please explain" from the AFL. Its pretty bloody obvious what we're trying to say, if you need an explanation your in the wrong job.

I am livid.

Players should just sit down when the ball is bounced this weekend.

I'm so angry.

Not sure I can follow this game anymore.

The players need to move on and concentrate on the game.

Fans should do that.

My idea is, every Melbourne supporter going to the game this week NOT enter the stadium.

We all sit outside and watch it on the big screen, cheer extra loud so the boys know we're there to support them, but not add a cent to the gate.

I'd be in that...

I got free Medallion Club tickets. Can I still go, or should I stand outside in the cold instead?

The best protest would be to compile a video of every tackle made this weekend by every player, send it to the AFL, and get them to come to the club and explain to the players what they are and aren't allowed to do.

I know it wouldn't happen, but it be good to see one of our blokes in the defensive goal square put his arms in the air (because he can't tackle) and let a north bloke walk into an open goal.

It was a great tackle.

Tribunal F'd up.

I am going to stick with Baseball going forward......at least it makes sense.

We have 2 away games @ etiHard, back to back. Lets make a rolling 2 match protest. Don't go. Or roll up outside and don't enter. Or go to the wharf and watch there. We need to stand up as a Unit and be heard.

Fair Dinkum, this is a Big Issue. We need to take a stand.

I'll bring you a blanket and a flask of concrete.

Talk is cheap.

It would be more awesome to take our anger out on that little turd Brent Harvey instead. Smash him into the turf, and see if the AFL dare lay another suspension on us.

I think we need to be Visable in the ground, BUT do not buy any food or beverages....Let the AFL pick up the Tab.

Sell them and donate the Money to Sean Whites cancer appeal.

I like the arm band idea with RIP TACKLE on it its simple and anyone can make one.

I literally can not believe this is happening? How the [censored] did he get 3!

I have to work this saturday, but I don't think us not showing up to the game is

Beneficial for the players.

Something has to be done tho I feel we have to make some sort of stand.

Totally. The team should tackle as aggressively as it possibly can this weekend. The more often these type of tackles happen, the less viable it is going to be for the AFL to keep rubbing out players.

I still reckon we just pelt the ground with marshmallows.

Yep, the best protest would be to tackle like berserk beasts.

In effect, daring the AFL to continue to crack down in their special la-la-land nonsense way.

The armband is a great idea. I will make sure I have one. Also, the more people with signs and banners protesting this the better. I am thinking of getting a big sheet to make a banner with, anyone else keen to assist? Lol
