Recently, particularly tonight on Channel 7 the ability for Bruce and Dennis to continually label the wrong player becomes laughable. I know its a tough gig to know all 44 however the money they're on you'd think they could do their job correctly?

Young Isaac Smith kicked his first goal, will go home and watch the tape and see he got labelled Xavier Ellis. Maybe I'm looking too into it but seems to be occuring more and more.

Bruce is remarkably bad at getting not only players names wrong, but misinterpreting the umpiring decisions too. "The umpire has paid too high there, not sure about that one..." When it was shepherding off the ball or something completely unrelated.

You're not wrong. Dennis made several blunders, a few times McAvaney had to correct him.

That's what sucks about the new TV deal - channel 7's broadcast is awful. Channel 9 had much better coverage than both 7 and 10.

Channel 9 haven't done it for ~5 years. IMO they all have their -/+'s.

I liked the late Clinton Grybas' commentary. Wouldn't he have loved the new TV rights and Foxtel's re-introduction of an AFL Channel. The ol' White Line Fever may have got a gig. Still might..

Bring back Lou Richards & Peter Landy, or "Bluey Adams and Jack Edwards...now they knew how to commentate!!

Sandy Roberts & Ian Robertson, I used to love hearing their commentary. Hearing Sandy saying "Here comes the wizard!" still makes the hair stand up on the back of the neck.

Good if they could shut up about Black Caviar long enough to call a footy game.

At least Dwayne Russell wasn't involved.

Ian Robertson commentary out at Windy Hill in 1990 is a total classic. Suburban footy at its best. Darren Bennett taking screamers over Van der Haar!

Bruce waffles on like the game is still played at 1990 speeds. I'm glad foxtel have all games live cos I'll watch them over 7.

Even with Dwayne Russell, who is one of the worst callers, he at least has good special comments guys around him.

Yeah I reckon! What was all that about?

If you don't understand, you will never know.

And I won't tell you.

I like how Bruce and Tony Shaw say "Gee" a lot, like they are giving themselves time to think before they interject with some incredibly inane observation.

It's just disgraceful commentary, and I still can't fathom why the umpires are mic'd up.

...at least Kelly Underwood has been downgraded to boundary rider....

I'd rather her and Luke Darcy with Malcolm Blight on special comments forever rather than another game with Russell.

...at least Kelly Underwood has been downgraded to boundary rider....

Thank goodness for small mercy's

...at least Kelly Underwood has been downgraded to boundary rider....

Now we just gotta find a way to get her downgraded to..... unemployed..... I just cannot stand the sound of her voice.

They were at it again today...Aussie was up 2 his second possession before Bruce noticed somebody must have been subbed off..and ffs at the same time the on screen graphics had Grimes OFF Wonaeamirri ON.....then it took them a full minute to do a player head count and then we get.... "Oh i think its Grimes"...."Yeah cant see him out there..oh Richo will know"..."Richo??"....5mins later we hear from Richo who says.. "cant see Grimes on the bench.....he must have gone straight to the rooms."

Good post Trengove. Bruce is an entertaining commentator when the footy's really exciting, and Cometti...well, he's just good at commentating.

I'll take Bruce and Dennis any day over Dwayne Russell or that muppet Matthew Campbell. His voice irritates the hell out of me.

I'm sick of Dennis saying "he takes something off the kick"...get a new line Dennis !!!

The demons have brought in Bate who is strong overhead .

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
