GC17's first quarter today

... made our performance on Thursday look like Champagne football.

See, there's always a silver lining

There's no way the GC performances should be compared to ours .

We "should" be miles infront in terms of developement .

Only way that I'd compare to us is that the bummers managed a larger lead in 1 quarter than we managed in a whole game, but I must say it is really of no importance.

I'm embarrassed for us and no laughing at GC especially at the hands of the scum will help .

Sarcasm emoticon or not .

Shows up the disparency between Essendon and us nicely I'd have thought.

New game record looming and happy to lose it

What really shows how bad we were is that the inside fifties in that quarter was 25-9.... We only managed 22-3

very much my thinking. It took a whole game and many many goals in junk time to amount that lead for us.

Cant help but be impressed by the Bummers today

I don't think it matters when you score the goals, we still performed well against the Suns in my opinion. GC beat Essendon in the second quarter today 5.2 to 3.0 by the way. Still, 15 goals in the first quarter pretty much seals it.

edit: also impressed with Essendon. Just goes to show you that a change in coach and admin can do wonders for a list. Essendon will trounce the Dee's in a few weeks.

Actually , to me it does. GC in the first qtr have fresh legs and all the game before them.. They jumped us. They have been pummeled by Essendon. We got our big scores agaisnt GC when they were knackered ( youngens ) We were junk time kings...Essendon have shown their ability when it really matters.

A big difference to me..:)

In that context, I do understand your position. Both Melbourne and Essendon have smashed GC, but Essendon have done it more convincingly by kicking 15 in the first quarter and the final margin is likely to be 20 goals plus easily.

The really sad thing ( for us ) is that despite the obvious difference in the sides ,GC are still having a crack, still playing with what they have at their disposal, still putting bodies on the line...... unlike some other club I could mention :(

But the awesome thing for us is that the likes of Tom Scully must be watching this game and wondering just how much worse GWS are going to be next season, especially if they don't attract a big name like Ablett (and they probably won't).

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
