When the MFC can win two or more games in a row and not lose to a team like saint Kilda, then the MFC may be back.

But until then as one game means very little, however it is a pleasing start.

It should be about slow incremental improvement across the journey from here on out. We'll still have our bad weeks though. Particularly, with a number of youngsters playing in our 22. I think we can beat anyone outside of the top 5 or so teams in the league if we turn up to play. That's a good start and from where we're coming, within a season and a half under PR, that's a damn near miracle.

4-8 at the same stages this year and last. Difference is it feels like underachieving whereas last year was overachieving

We've built 3 weeks of really good form into the bye after an inconsistent first 9 games. Uncertain about our next match, but Rounds 15-17 is suddenly looking like a great chance for 3 in a row

Sure, it's only one game, and we've only won 4 - against that, 3 of the 4 wins have come against teams that are above us on the ladder, and to win against Geelong at Geelong is more than solid, no matter how you read it.

The return matches against St Kilda and the Giants will be interesting, but surely 4 wins from the remaining 10 shouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility.

I love this club.

I must admit, however, that I'm weary. I'm weary of looking for positives where there are few. I realise that we'll get through this period. But it just gets weary.

Argh!!

15 months later and absolutely nothing has changed.

Depressing to think that this was written nearly two years ago - and things have only gotten worse.

I love this club! We're back baby!

Timeline^ - 45HG, sticking fat through the last several years, we can get through anything. Easy to do when you love the club!

A while back someone here suggested there'd be a tipping point. Well, the answer is - it's dependant on how resilient you are.

I'd suggest Melbourne supporters are the most resilient. Then again, other supporters would suggest otherwise. [censored] 'em.

Enjoy what is coming I say.

Your heart beats true.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
