I made the same error earlier on Newton. He is officially a rookie and cant be upgraded unless there was an LTI.

Further as he was allegedly rookied to provide a pinch hit 2nd ruck option now being well coveted by Martin, I dont think there is a role for him. I am also cognisant of Newton being the perfect tweener .....capable at VFL but lacking at AFL.

I think Martin has snuffed his opportunities. He would need further bags of goals between now and mid year to get a sniff.

Newton seems to have an uncanny knack of becoming unavailable when he's nearing selection.

Incorrect, Newton was our chosen elevated rookie at the start of the season. He is currently on the primary list.

That's my understanding.

He wa upgraded to the senior list weeks ago, actually in the last week before season commenced.

That was one thing I noticed JCB, I talk up Garland to all of my mates telling them he'll be the next AA KPB in years to come. On Sunday he was falling over everything couldn't punch and would have gotten towelled by KHunt at Full Forward. Always next week in footy :P
