We didn't win a lot during the season either :P

Final score 102 v 75

We made in-roads in Season 2010... after finishing LAST in the pre-season ladder. Pre-season doesn't mean a great deal except for match fitness.

Must be Bates fault. He came on and we immediately started falling apart.

This would no doubt be my complete explanation if I was at the game..haha

Well now we can all stop talking about the pre-season and come Round 1 if there's not a big win, start getting upset then!!!

Yeah.........right, this is only a practice match!!!!!!!!. So Hawthorn are taking it easy too? The season proper starts in 2 weeks. Is the way we should be starting??

Sorry RR, I'm bent over waiting for you

Watch this space!!!!

x 3... pathetic effort, to be up but 14 pts and to lose like that !!! :(

They are without Franklin and Hodge and still spanked us!

Yep and we are without Frawley, Trengove and McKenzie to name a few.

So lets look at this dispassionately..........

Melbourne travel to Tassie to play the Hawks. Start like a house on fire and have a solid first half.

Melbourne dissapoint in the third and the last just peters out.

There are no injuries.

With no vision of the game, no poster on here can accurately talk about how the game was played or what took place.

All we have is MB's updates and from that it seems basically to be a case of:

Melb- Much improved pressure this week and took it up to a top 8 and likely top 4 team for a half. Fell away a bit but without knowing the coaching moves or players positions it is a bit hard to guage why. Ball use still average- especially going forward, once again when our forwards do actually get their hands on it their conversion and potency is good.

Plenty to work on. Also some things to be pleased with.

Two weeks now to gear up. Bring it on....................

(PS- Grimes for AA Captain)

It's hard to know what is going on when you're not watching the game, but the midfield really does concern me.

With the exception of Trengove, what else will change for Round 1?

We don't seem to be able to win many contested ball, if at all, and that is a real worry.

I know it would be robbing Peter to pay Paul, but is Grimes a possibility? Judging from the MB commentaty, he was our best by far tonight.

We were without our AA defender, our best (by far) tackler and our young nuggetty no. 2 drafted midfielder.

FFS it's a pre-season game in Tassie! Took the foot way off after half time to rest the best.

We matched it to the Hawks in the first half and that would have pleased Bailey.

Most important thing is to refrain from getting any injuries so close to the season-opener.

LoL

Geez if a tree fell in a forest they'd be 5 amongst you that would swear you heard something but couldn't be sure it was a tree. Some would hear nothing and have us believe the tree wasn't worthy of falling, another would swear it did fall and so it should as it was rotten to the core and the the lumberjacks had it easy. Others will swearmits still young growth and no One ought to be chopping anywhere.

Tis not the time to worry over takings stands whether they be of trees or opinions.

Only one seaon counts and it matters not about twigs, leaves or trunks unless they're the ones worn by Demons in battle proper!!

Roll on 2011, the real one !!

Go Dees !!

Yes it's just pre-season, but if you think we lost because we took it easy in the second half you are kidding yourself.

We were lucky we got off to a flyer, 5 goals to 1 and even more lucky they kicked so many points, could have easily been 10 or 12 goal thumping without buddy who has been in awesome form.

They stepped it up, we didn't back off intentionally.

I cant believe how many times I heard Melbourne go inside 50 ..... and Hawks rebound.. Would love to see a replay off this game and find out whether it was a lack of defensive forward pressure, as that is what Baily said we worked on the hardest over summer. So yes Frawley was out and Trenners, but how often we brake down inside 50 worries me. Hopefully once Petterd gets some more games under the belt that will change.

And just going by Matts updates sounds like Skulls had another ordinary game, hardly heard him mentioned.... wonder if he got a hard tag again like last week.

It's official... too much is read into the pre-season games.

Don't worry about Scully!! Let him ease himself into match fitness to get himself right for what matters most - round 1!! That's what pre-season games are good for.

Seriously B59 a tree fell...... sack Bailey now, Watts and Scully should never play for Melbourne again (albeit for differnt reasons 1. Watts is a hack delist him now 2. Scully is obvously already playing for GWS thats why lost!), Trengove must have season ending injury, Mckenzie has OP, I'm tearing up my membership because we lost a practice match.....

Deep breath in....out thats better. The footy starts in 2 weeks peeps, its all just training until then, these crap NAB cup and challenge games are just traing scenarios with moving witches hats - no intensity, no consequences of a win or a loss, no care factor from players or in most cases coaches (the only exception is James Tird).

Bring on the Swannies in 2 weeks. Was it 73 points against them last year, when the foot came off the accelerator? Ok round 1, they (Syd) need to lift more than us when they come to play at the 'G. CARN'T WAIT for the real stuff (yes i know i misspelt can't for those primary schoolteachers!! :) )

Too much may be read into with practice matches, but I can assure you if we went through the NAB cup undefeated belted every one in our path by 10 goals, I'd say we'd all be saying definite top 8 probable top 4. They wouldn't be just practice matches then. Look at Essendon supporters, they are absolute certainties for top 8 now!!!!!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
