Where on earth is Jack Trengove? Would've expected him to be playing in Friday's dress reheasal - will be a key this year...The article on the MFC website doesn't say anything about his whereabouts either...not injured, an inclusion, omission or resting.

Hawthorn also have a strong squad in, only really missing Hodge. This will be a good test of where we are at. Unfortunately, I reckon they will beat us by about 7-10 goals.

I'd guess he's not playing because he's already 100% ready to go, and too many other players need the run to get up to scratch.

Surely if he is 100% ready to go thats all the more reason for him to playing??

Fair call, looked in good nick in Adelaide and against Essendon.

puntroadend had a live telecast put up for the tiges supporters for a nab challenge match a couple of weeks ago, would be great if we could get that for this game?

I'm all for that...didn't get along to the Brissy game and would've loved to have had the chance to watch. Kudos that Matt Burgan and crew provide live chat updates though.

This is the sort of thing I want to see happen when we develop our own social venues around town. Live feeds shown on a big screen, when not telecast,,,as well as other shows of interest, like big boxing matches could be shown, or even members nights with a big screen say showing past Iconic sports videos, past Demon G/F's, & Icons like "The Fight", between 'smokin joe' & Mohammed Ali.

Or Sugar Ray Leonard, Hagler, Old test cricket footage on Lillee & Thomo & Marsh.

I think we could do a lot more as a club, socially.

James Strauss is named in the side, yet is in doubt with a hamstring complaint.

In fact it was mentioned in an article on the club website:

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/108978/default.aspx

Trengove could easily be a late inclusion.

I'm not concerned either way.

Unless it's a career threatening or long-term injury, it doesn't worry me.

This is a development year.

A few games missed here and there are largely inconsequential, as are wins.

good to see Gysberts and Tapscott in again. both seem to be on the same conservative program but good to see they can hit the ground running for round 1 whether it be at Casey or the Dees.

No sign of Blease, yet hear he played a praccie match last week for Casey ? no Lucas Cook either ?

If he's 100% ready to go then what do you gain by playing him (at the expense of someone who's not ready to go and needs the run)?

He would be fit and ready to go. The heirarchy must have a look at some of the others who haven't had the priviledge such as Gysberts, Tapscott, Blease, etc before the real stuff starts. WIth McKenzie out injured they must sift through for the replacement. Best way to do this is game time. They know what they'll get with Trengove.

Trengove is fine.

FACT: He didnt play last week because he pulled up a little sore from the Essendon game.

My guess is the club wants him cherry ripe for Rd 1 and the season.

Similar to Scully, he probably could of played against Essendon

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
