Seems a bit reactive, and I do like both those guys.... but something deep down thinks you may be right... (unless something changes)

Possible hairbrain scheme, but could Moloney go back, at least while Chip is out? His megalong kicking could be handy seeing we've been seen to be practising such things out of defence...

Rapidly becoming a good call. The same reason that Brock left I guess.

Of the two, i'd have Jones in before Moloney to be honest. Jones is quicker and breaks the lines, Beamer has a huge kick, but isn't always effective (same thing could be said for Jones). Jones's Athletic capabilities outweighs Beamers sheer size IMO.

I think it will be okay once Jones returns to his tagging role. Moloney is definitely required in the team right now, does a huge amount of the grunt work. Those up and under kicks are a bit of an issue but once we get back to our hard running and being able to spread from the contest, should make it easier to find targets by hand.

McKenzie has to come back too.

McKenzie has better hands than Jones, creative, quick hands in close. Remains to be seen if he's a better kick than Jones but he damn sure takes more care where he's kicking it.

Jordie has more upside, and is a tackling machine and a coaches favourite.

He gets Jones' spot for mine.

Moloney rises during the real stuff, his best is pretty good so he's safe.

This has nothing to do with tonight as it's Jones' first hitout in some time.

I just don't want those 3 in one team, much bigger fan of Jordie.

I hope Jones and Moloney being in the leadership group doesn't make them immune to being dropped.

JOnes needs to learn:

1. He can't break tackles

2. When trying to kick goals frm 60m he should look at the two or three Dee players leading towards him. And kick it to them.

More concerned about their sub standard disposoal. Jones never looks to where he's kicking. And Mololoney looks like an NFL punter. Both just bomb it with little thought.

I think that they both have a place in the best 22.

Jones has had to adapt is style of game to that of a more agile inside player since being drafted. This has started to happen more and more every year.

U18's he had the more mature body to just run over players but quickly learnt that he could not do this when playing against men.

Our midfield is our weakness. Full stop.

Intuitive call.

Certainly McKenzie is another component.

Jordan Gysberts might have another say as an additional component.

An obvious call that has been known for a while. Jordie still to come in also.

There are many concerns about the middle right now. Players like Blease and Gysberts could improve us in this area but where are they?

They are two that need to be forcing at least one of Moloney or Jones out or at least providing pressure.

Moloney, though he would die for the club is a bit of a bull in a china shop with one forte, a booming kick.... Always the booming kick and often the poor choice. Jones, though he too would die for the club often plays dumb footy. Waits too long and often passed to the lesser of choices. Neither are A class mids.

Hate to say it but they hold Melbourne back in terms of creativity and effectiveness.

The sooner the likes of the Gys and some other more talented youth can come in to sport Scungove the better.

Appreciate that's a bit of a call and many won't agree, and how dare I mark-down such loyal guys but reality is reality.

Beamer is still and always will be a very important part of our clearance lineup. No matter what his deficiencies are, non of the lads stood up in tackles, bumped opponents off the ball, held positions for other runners as much as he did last night.

Moloney makes up for his slowness with more aggression and skill by foot.

Jones is very limited, unfortunately.

What annoys me from last night is the ineffectiveness at the stoppages. We're not going to win many games this year with such a low clearance rate (which leads to a low inside-50 count).

Good Call, what Mckenzie brings is a good defensive side at contest, these two don't have a defensive side around stoppages, you can't miss tackles at stoppages, last night we missed a heap and Essendon hit most tackles. It will be hard to have Jones, Mckenzie and Moloney in the same midfield and I have Moloney and McKenzie ahead of Jones.

How about this call - Melbourne needs to have the strength of Frawley, the run of Scully, Morton and McKenzie, the guile of Petterd, and every other frontline player to be up and running to be competitive in the AFL when the majority of its talent is 21 and under?
