I really wouldn't mind him playing for Casey. Obviously he would be bound to an extremely tight behavior clause in his contract. First sign on stuffing up and he would be out the door. I really don't think Casey have much to lose by signing him.

I disagree, but I don't follow Casey. It might be good for Casey but disasterous for Melbourne. Fevola's efforts at Carlton not only affected the "good name" of the club but sidetracked the careers of many other young players

Yeah, that behaviour did go through the club.

But I always wonder just how he managed to make that behaviour appear at Carlton before he got there, decades before he got there. And how he managed to orchestate the SS Minnow boat trip down the Yarra where Gilligan was handcuffed to a Keg and a funnell.

Fev has amazingly strong powers over the dark side. He somewhow has upset Gaddafi as well and people are running amok. Not to mention how he's influenced Nixon.

Any team is better with Fev in the forward 50. Enough said.

Not really, we played them twice last year with him in the team, both times they'd have been better off with someone that contributed in a positive way for 4 quarters.

This is a new age, players like Fev and Richo that played on emotion and put in only when their mood suited them are almost all gone. It's hard enough to beat your opponent and a zone, let alone beating your own demons at the same time. Barry Hall a slight exception.

We've recruited head strong kids with a professional outlook, these are the types of players that you need over 4 quarters of football. Not players wasting a key spot one week, and fluking 5 goals 2 weeks later.

Maybe. It's arguable, as Deestroy All has illustrated.

What isn't in question is that any 'club' is worse off with Fev in it.

I don't want him hanging around our kids. He is a terrible influence and a massive distraction.

We should politely say to Casey - No.

Geez thats rough DA , lumping Richo in with Fev .

Sure he used to get down on himself and wave his arms around at teamates now and then but I never saw him go into a full petulant sulk like Fevola .

Short memory Fork'em. I recall Richo doing it quite a few times. The difference was Richo wouldn't give up his gut busting running. One of the most memorable dummy spitters was Richo when his teammates let him down or things weren't right.

Carlton and Brisbane disagree. A player can influence a team for more than just the time on the field.

I don't know how the relationship works, but do melbourne form part of the Casey match committee, it the coach part of the melbourne coaching staff?

Melbourne hasn't made a bad decision on player character in a long time, i dout they will now.

It'd be rough it I was only talking about his last few years. Towards the end he became a pretty complete footballer, if he played his whole career like that he'd have been a legend.

For a long time he was hit and miss. Could be something to do with always playing in a rubbish team, but that's my point, today's recruiting looks at all that, and try to gauge how you'll cope mentally. Not that they'll always get it right, but we'll see less and less head cases in the future.

You need a bit more than just talent to be an asset in today's game.

I think we're getting crossed ideals here with the second, Fev thread. I want him to get another chance @ AFL footy. I think he could be, the right fit for Saints.

But I don't want him @ Melbourne, because we have such a young list, & our new forward draftees, as well as our mature ones like Martin, Newton etc need posiitions available to further develop.

Keep this guy away from anything MFC. He continues to give the Casey area a bad name.

It was in jest High Tower and anyone that didn't get that......gee wiz.

The editing of comments lately is sad.

Enjoy the year everyone...

the russian is right.

When does the boy become a man?

When are his mistakes his own?

When does someone move on from a spotlight they can't handle?

Brendan needs to find something other than football to make his life worthwhile.

Not at all.

I never said he was excused of all blame.

But some of it must fall on his family because it is clear that from an early age they have not done right by him in his formative years.

They had a large hand in shaping the person he became.

I'm a father of 2 boys.

I can't wait for 20 years time when I get blamed for everything. What a cop out.

Bags of concrete people and harden the f up.

Blaming everyone else for his problems? Blaming a family one knows nothing about? This topic is getting so sick it's not even worth commenting further.

Everyone here saying, Fev is making excuses,,, I've Never Once, heard him say he blames this person, or that person. I've never heard him blame anyone for his lesser moments.

Thats talk from here & the Media thru the likes of malthouse.

He doesn't seem to me the type to let someone take the fall for something he's done. To me it looks like he doesn't know how to act, except the way he learnt around the mid nineties. When he was a physically Mature 15 Yr old. Thats when a young fella needs to have a strong & responsible role model. Especially if the kid, is a big kid with a rebelious nature.

It's only people in the media & forums that say he's making excuses, but where is he quoted as doing so. No, he just doesn't know the way out of the hole he's grown into.

I think it might help a few of the younger guys having Fev around (provided he pulls his head in of course). No matter what anyone thinks of him, he is one of the best forwards in the game at the minute. Wouldn't mind him in a Dees jumper either....

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
