Sylvia

Davey

Scully

I think that if Sylvia plays a full season and we are in the mix for finals, he is a serious Brownlow chance. Davey, I think, will relish the formal leadership role and Scully has the goods, it's just a matter of when he explodes onto the scene.

I think Green is the real danger to upset my top three with Jamar and Grimes if he stays fit.

Why is it that you've picked nearly every player in the poll ?

I felt a few were under-represented.

And I was curious to see if anyone would even notice.

I figure my top 2 are Sylvia and Davey, with the rest tying for 3rd.

It looks like we all think similarly.

I went straight to Sylvia, then Green, then I couldn't go past Davey.

Well I didn't- I went for Jurrah, Davey, Green with Watts as a SMOKIE..

Green to repeat the dose in 2011. His durability puts him ahead of Sylvia IMO. Throw a blanket over the rest of field for third, but I gave it to Scully, just to underline what we already know about his professionalism.

Watching this poll, I find it interesting to see that after all of the speculation, and virtual wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth over the potential loss of Scully, and how important he is to the club on it's path to the ultimate prize, he is polling a relatively low number of "votes"... does this mean that his star is yet to rise and many don't think he is likely to be a top 3 performer (despite the fact he was in the top 10 in his first year), or is this a backlash over a perceived defection?

I think you're trying to read between lines that aren't even there

Not really... it was a genuine question. You read the Scully thread on here and 'ology and you would think that the club will sink without him (not that I think he will go), yet no one seems to rate him just yet :-)

that is crazy talk, he is coming 5th as a second year player in a team of stars, he is obviously rated! He is beating FRawley, All-Australian and B+F runner-up last year!

Yeah, you're probably right :-) But my comments were based on a combination of the amount of distress his possible departure was causing and the fact that he was 8th in his first year and could be expected to do a lot better this year with a year and a full pre-season behind him (which is why I picked him in my top 3).

I'm surprised to see how low Moloney is in the voting. He's definitely not in my top three, but considering how many thought he would make such a great captain, I am surprised he isn't polling higher.

Also surprised that Russian doesn't have more. He's and AA who dominates games, and is effective even when he is not in the ruck.

If Sylvia, Davey and Green are the top three we have made the finals.

Call of the year so far.

If we can get 20 games out of these 3 plus Jurrah we'll win more than we lose.

1 Davey

2 Sylvia

3 green

Smokey - Dunn after a 40 goal season?

At the 2010 Bluey these were the vote getters...

Green 295

Frawley 277

Jamar 231

Davey 194

Sylvia 170

Either we want Frawley and Jamar to drop out of the top 3 to make the finals???

Green played 22 games, Davey played 20 and Sylvia played 15. I am not sure how much quantum improvement an extra 5 games from Col would give us. Its a plus but how much?? Having Jurrah play a full season and performing will be important.

However Green, Jamar, Davey and Sylvia are doing what you would want them to do. We need them to repeat that performance in 2011. What you see is what you get. Leadership, solid good mature football. Only Sylvia has the unfilled potential to be an out and out game breaker. He has teased but has not delivered yet. Davey will burst in spasms and do it with class. We need it to happen more often

The big area of improvement is giong to come from our younger players who mature and stand up to perform at the highest. When they start following Chippa's lead on perform and they challenge for Top 5 in the Bluey then we are a finals prospect

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
