The Collingwood Ad

I just saw some of the twaddle that is the new Collingwood Ad

In it they've unashamedly pinched our "march to the G" and that slow chant is the one all of us who were at the 87 finals series will know quite well as ours re badged

The thieving Magpie logo suits them well.

What a disgraceful attempt, really poor quality. I thought that the money they have would produce something semi decent.

We are not even a blip on the radar of the Collingwood Football Club.

Why would they care what we have done in the past..things that only a MFC supporter would even remember or recognize (yes I was there in 1987).

Until the point in time our club stamps it's authority we have no business in attempting to have an opinion on the marketing tactics of a club like Collingwood right now to be brutally honest.

I agree, but it's still a crappy ad, when you consider what they could have done.

Dont get me wrong I don't care much for the ad itself.. I was more responding to the original post about "stealing" our ideas..

Yeah, i know, but i am just amazed and "underwhelmed" by the Ad, considering that President Eddie is such a TV "Giant"....oh well who cares, didn't makr me buy one of the filth memberships!!

That said Collingwood already have 52,000 members (Gulp) B)

Yeah , was weak , I expected more from it after the lead in (biggest ad Blah , blah , blah ) pfft.

I also remember the drawn out MELBOURNE being a staple chant when comfortably leading games during the 80's .

That was along time ago now tho' , thought they copied Sydney personally , who cares .

We just gotta silence it .

Yep, pretty poor advert. Considering they claim to have had 3500 fans there, i was expecting much, much more. Never looked like more than a couple hundred at any one stage, and by the time it got to the long shot heading into the G, the shot looked CGI.. which i'm pretty sure is due to the fact they made it artificially dark.

We should be responding with footage of the Walk to the G for our commercial! I'm sure a fixed camera placed on that last bridge, on fast forward, watching ten thousand people marching will be much more impressive.

They don't need to advertise for members. They've already got 52,000 of them, with 17,000 from last year yet to re-sign.

Seems to me the whole thing was just a 'look at us' ploy.

Has all the hallmarks of an end of season embarrassment if they don't get the sweet run with injuries they had in 2010.

You'd never know 2010 was a couple of lucky bounces away from a St Kilda premiership.

I hate Collingwood like the rest of you, but the ad is pretty good. If it was a Melbourne ad, I'd love it.

Nah its Collingwood....i still hate it...

Ya don't hate 'em enough to dispise everything they do tho'.

At least they didn't come up with a rubbish jingle like that Saints Footy debacle.

Typical small club mentality to whinge about what others are doing. They don't care about us, I don't know why we should bother caring about them.

Posted

oh, was that it?

it could have been so much better.

reminds me of an 'epic' film done dirt cheap.

the elements were all there for a classic but it didn't quite make it.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
