Players training with us?

In the videa on afl.com.au, which shows some footage of our guys coming back to training, there is a shot of Tom McNamara on the bike next to Joel MacDonald, Jetta and Morton.

Not sure if that is a shot from yesterday's training, but if it is, I wouldn't be surprised in Tommy McNamara were rookie listed this year, like Newton and Meesan were last year.

We have 5 spots to fill on the rookie list, so using one for Tommy would be a good idea imo. He's still very young

anyone heard any news whether we have invited any delisted players down or even casey players aswell?

I think it is too early for this to happen. We only started training for the younger players today- older next week with a rest I think for Green & Frawley- maybe in a couple of weeks. Late November I'd expect invitees if any....I hope James Wall is one.

Indeed, but I'd be equally unsurprised if he wasn't rookie listed. It's commonplace for players who were marginal for delisting to continue to train.

And also, sorry to have to put on my spelling nazi hat, but it's "Meesen", not "Meesan". You've been spelling it wrong for years and it's giving me the [censored].

Thanks a lot. Austin Wonaeamirri has got a body better suited to powerlifting than AFL. I think he's just a tiny bit too short to be good enough consistently, although I would love for him to make it. His team-mates just have to play to his strengths and not lob it to him in a two on one situation, where he'd have a snowball's chance in hell of marking it.

Don't worry. You won't have to see that name much from now on.

Watts body type makes him a hard gainer. It will take time and he has alot of work to do. Job easier for Trenners as he is shorter and looks to have a larger frame. Go Dees!

Really? I was under the impression that Watts had a body more than capable of gaining weight, and the only limitation was a soft limit imposed by the fitness staff to ensure he had the core strength to handle the additional bulk first.

Obviously I'm no expert (everything I've said above is 100% regurgitation from those who seem to know what they are talking about), but I've always associated the "difficulty gaining muscle" with the Cale Morton types.

I'd love to hear from pringle or anyone else who may have knowledge of these things.

Gee I hope not, he's a good VFL footballer but literally can not kick. He'd be a massive liability at AFL level.

anyone know whats the training ground actually called?

Gosch's Paddock.

It's located just outside AAMI Park.

There are 2 ovals - one belongs to us & the other to the pies.

Morton tweeted that he's gained 9kgs since last year.

I envy someone who can gain 9kgs and still look like Kate Moss' skinnier sister. Bastard.

But seriously, I'm pretty impressed with Scully, he looks to have gained some muscle on that small body of his, and Grimes looks to be in top shape too. So now can we please start the season next week? I'm impatient!

Bailey said 90 per cent of the squad was able to train on the first day.

“There are a couple who are getting over hip injuries, but they’re still running, which is a good sign to be starting now, rather than post-Christmas. So we’re not too bad,” he said.

That's the best news we could have hoped for.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
