Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Exactly what he communicated and he meant it. If you think it's just a bit of selling, so be it, you're entitled to your view. I reckon you're sadly mistaken.

I may be mistaken..you know..it does happen. ( and to us all ) Sadly ?? why ? Here he is..rolled out...first day on the job. Any of us could have written his script. Predictable and unbackable at the TAB.

That was a lovely little piece of cake served up the the Cat-Lovers. All fluff.

What was it if not selling ?

Reality?

How can he KNOW the reality... its all supposition and spin.

He can sell an idea.... but theres nothing to back it just yet. What was...was. What will be..is arbitrary. Just a smidge of 'reality' snuck in when he suggested there was still much work to do. He knows he be a mug to put either the left or right on the chopping block just yet but hes towing the 'party' line> All good feely feely good stuff for the choir.

Reality is how something appears to a given individual, we all have a different take on reality.

Scotts reality, and one I agree with, is that the cats have an amazing list still with 13 all australians, whilst also having a distinct home ground advantage that most don't share. They will blood kids, but a handful will be good kids.

Your reality is that their period of success is over, due to personnel loss and other teams catching up and surpassing them, being only Collingwood at this stage.

A change is what the doctor ordered, and my reality is that they are still one of the best in it.

good way to back an argument..very sloppy. Two distinct things.. You unable to distinguish ?

Youre welcome to your view. Top4 for geelong in 2011 fine. I say no.

I think Geelong will finish about 6th.

They have a good side, but will be learning a (not necessarily vastly different, but still) new system and have lost some key components.

They are still a good team, but the old players are another year older and I think they are beyond being one of the for-certain premiership contenders.

They'll play finals and be capable of playing in a GF, but in 2011 they'll be the smoky.

Careful there E25 not top 4 ? evade !!

Entirely agree 5-7 (likely)

the other ingredient are the other top 4 contenders. Well take the filth as a given .I'd put Saints Pups Dockers and Sqawkers right in the mix. Don't see the Cats now as an auto select above any of them. Be interesting to see if West stays now

Cats are gone, anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves. Lucky to make the eight. Ablett had 40 touches against Collingwood and they still got belted. They'll sink faster than the titanic. A forward line of Mooney(32), Lonergran, Podsiadly(30) and Hawkins with no Ablett to feed it as a serious top 8 contender, no chance. Not to mention the long list of over the hill players, GONE. Check the ages of these blokes Chapman(30), Corey(29), Enright(30), Hunt(29), Ling(30), Ottens(31), Scarlett(32), Wojinski(31), Milburn(45). GONE, GONE, GONE

Chapman has potential to really drop away especially with his hammy problems, Hunt is average always seems like he will dominate but never quite gets there, Ottens similar to Corey starting to age very quickly. Ling is the one who has already shown some drop off over this season he could be battling for a spot next year.

How would you possibly know that the structure and game style will change (significantly) to result in a loss of momentum ? You're just guessing.

You rule them in for Top 8, but rule them out of contention (written them off) for top 4 ? (where the difference could be just 1-2 wins).

IMO they're still a top 4 contender.

I agree- this may give them now the chance to play some young blood- I believe they still are one of the best 3 in the league.

To be top 3 in the league without he best player in the league, must mean that in 2010 they were clearly the best team in the league when they did have him.

Which they weren't.

That's how I judge it.

Yeah, they're as good as shot those All-Australian Players. They will all be terrible next year. They will all go from prime to poo in 5 seconds.

it will be interesting to see what happens - they could fade fast, hang in there for a top 4 finish, or more likely be wildly inconsistent.

they will still be a "dangerous" team next year not to be taken lightly. and hard to beat at the cattery

All hysterics aside I don't think anyones really suggesting the Geelong of 2011 won't be competetive and a very good side but they simply won't be the Geelong of 2010 let alone 2009. Yep they finished second on the ladder but started to show tiredness into the finals . It's not scurrilous to suggest they've peaked. And that was the "tried and tested " side . That's gone, coaches gone ( can't see Sanderlands sticking around now) Golden child gone, and all the wholes old legs get older and slower. Less rotations now too .

Will be interesting to see how Scott recasts the midfield and whether he leaves old dogs to old tricks or starts the revitalization process of injecting youth on a wholesale scale . You don't just go down the shop and buy the possessions Ablett got . That's abig hole and maybe even bigger than they really are prepared to concede . I don't agree with some pundits that his going only devalues the Cats by 3 or 4 % Very instrumental in so many forward thrusts . Many others looked better and walked taller with him in that side. Be curious to see a similar effect take hold possibly with GC . Chappy is very good but not in gods class. On his own will have more to do . I don't think his OLD mates will be the A Team in support they once were. Without GA to contain opposition teams can target Chappy. Might change dynamics considerably until some kids get up to speed. Mooney no longer the danger he was . Lost a yard easily. Scarlett still vg but how much can he shoulder and for how long ?

Longs looking a bit lost at times . Seems to really play well when rest of team on song . Goes flat a bit these days . Selwood ? Vg .. Nuff said . Milburn and Wojo a bit lucky I think to have that gig next year. Off the bench boys. There is still much talent and class at Skilled but the makeup is bound to change.

I don't think any team wil now enter onto Kardinia with awe any more. Geelong is just another vg side and no longer the feared mighty Cats.

These Scott brothers are made of stern stuff. Jumping into coaching with the same determination they played with. Geelong perceived to be on the decline. North permanent survival battlers. Both poison chalice positions. I'm sure many other higher profile coaching aspirants wouldn't dream of going near these clubs at the moment.

? I'm pretty sure aspiring head coaches take whichever job they can.

Very rarely do they get to have their pick of the vacant positions out there.

There are quite a few "high profile" options that end up always being a bridesmaid.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
