Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I've seen him play about 10 times this year and can safely safe you have no clue about the draft, he will go first round.

Good on you.

Emma Quayle shares the same view.

Not everyone does though, and I think he'll be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Some people rate Travis Colyer too.

I wouldn't want him at our club.

Well, unbeknownst to you, I have.

Imbecile.

But I just don't rate short players that size.

I don't rate Harvey and I'd always go for a bigger kid.

Remember, it's not about what they are producing now, it's about what they will be able to do at the next level in 3-4 years time.

People who know what they're talking about understand that.

I'm allowed my opinion.

Just like every other twit.

I agree. Seen him play a few times and think he can play but not the player we need either! From what i remember not much leg speed and more a clearance in and under player. Would prefer some silky skilled outside players!

Despite Jamar's ruck dominance and astute tap work we've been smashed all too often all year in clearances and stoppages. Theres enough outside leg speed. We need players that can burrow in and get the ball out.

You're just being silly now E25, an annoying little [censored] but a great player

Of course, he is an exception for someone so short in the modern game

Harvey's a great player, to watch, But, just how many games has he really been massively influential in. I'm a Harvey fan, but there's some merit in what E25 has said.

Hopefully with us, Blease, has that run & speed, but is 6' tall.

I concede to say that I "don't rate" Harvey is a bit much, but at the same time I think he is overrated and if he were taller he would be a much better player.

Players that size need to have that bit extra just to compete, at AFL level.

Guys like Jarryd Blair and Andrew Hooper were taken late for a reason and I doubt they'll be in the AFL in a few years.

I discriminate against excessively short players.

Sorry.

I do agree that short players have it against them to make it at AFL level.

However you have chosen a horrible choice as an example. Brent Harvey is by no means overrated. He was good this year, but for about 4 years prior to that he was a star, North would have been half the side they were if it wasn't for him.

As Redleg says on another thread, there are 25 days to go. I'm sure we're going to read or hear about every possible permutation and combination available on draft day. Our resident draft guru of the last three years Stevo will be back soon with his views in a couple of stories we're working on together. Stevo has extensive experience in junior football. He has worked at two TAC Cup clubs and is involved in public schools footy as well. His view is that this is a tough draft to predict in the early stages because of the dominance of Gold Coast. As a club, Melbourne has no control over who's going to be there at 12 and it's going to be a bit more of a test for BP than it has been in the past two or three years.

There's all different kinds of tests isn't there? Picking at 12 or trying to decide between Watts and Natanui are two of them - I don't think the second one is less of a test.

Watts in less than a heartbeat. I'd always take a footballer over an overrated marketing machine.

In the next 2 years Watts will emerge whilst Natanui will become the average footballer he already is.

Hmmn, I think they'll both be Good footballers,,, with Watts Far more skillfull footballer with his disposal.

Nat, IMO will be a very good big man in the ruck or forward. *He would have made a brilliant Rugby Union Rep for Australia, I reckon.

With picks 12 & 32, i reckon we will draft either a tall forward & HBF, or visa versa. A Darling/Lynch & a HBF who drops, or a Smedts/Atley/Smith & Mitchell. Then i reckon we will draft another KPF/ ruckman @ 49 & 52. Maybe a Sinclair.

I would love to get Darling, but i'd equally love to draft an Atley/Smith & Mitchell (if his shoulder can stand the rigours of AFL). Probably moreso the latter, as it will address 2 key areas for improvement.

Mitchell at pick 12?

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
