Max Hudghton

Part time assistant at the pies this year. I think we should go after him. Thoughts?

A great Idea & a great footy person I suspect.

Stkilda should have kept him on this year. I suspect he could have been handy & maybe freed up one defender who might have been useful up forward.

I'm open to this. We do have a vacancy.

Am assuming that he would replace Sean Wellman yes as backline couch, does sound like a good option, obviously no others have been thrown around yet so the football department may be all over the situation allready

why should we not try to secure the backmen of the century whos defensive coaching track record is second to none?

Is SOS contracted to anyone now the GF is over??? If he is free then yes go all out. That Boy knows defence and attack.

i thought he was heading back to Lygon St.

SOS left the Saints because of burnout and because he has taken up a job in list management with GWS.

Definitely worth chasing if he was attainable, but he isn't at this stage.

Aah it was GWS i knew it was somewhere!! Everybody is heading up North, thanks ever so much AFL for setting up these 2 soulless Cash Cows.

I hope they are so universally HATED down here for Generations. It is going to be so hard to win Flags now, and the supporters up there will never really care....ie Melbourne Storm.

Hudghton would appear to be a terrific prospect .... but he has wanted to keep his building business going so far - and he may not want a full-time coaching career.I'd certainly be talking to him

Gary O'Donnell is now available. Forget his time at Essendon - he was part of Brisbanes coaching panel for a while. Would have to be worth consideration

No thanks, not if he was Essendon's backline coach.

Even if he was - I wouldn't discount him. If the senior coach ( Knights) didn't want to develop defensive skills , the backline coach was on a hiding to nothing.

Laidley? - not sure he'd be interested in being straight backline coach

Fair enough. You have my attention. Any interest there ID ?

There'd have to be wouldn't there?? I know he's desperately keen to continue coaching AFL. There are no senior roles available that he's going to get. The next stop is for him to look at being a senior assistant. We'd have to at least be sounding him out I'd imagine.

I'm interested sure. I was just poking you to see if you knew of anything concrete. ;)

Whilst we all have thoughts on whom should replace Wellman- it is a mighty important decision by our FD. We have had a great defence orchestrated and developed by Wellman and now has become the one of the best backline in the AFL. We need to continue down this path. With the promise of our mdfielders the coaching of this area is critical to our future wishes for premiership glory. Lastly our forward structure of having players such as Petterd, Bate, Jetta and Maric fighting for a spot along with Green, Dunn,Watts, Davey, Wonaeamirri along with the development of Gawn and Fitzpatrick and the probability of getting Hale brings me to the point that maybe we should gain a specialist forward coach such as John Barker to our fold to instrument a similar position to Wellman and our current backline .This also would allow us to go after a part time defensive specialist coach such as Max.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
