And my vote got him across the line!

I think the award is voted on by the 5 members of the All Australian Panel.

Liam wins a medal. Those who voted for Liam have the chance of winning some petrol.

Hope it is one of us.

Howcome you edited that 45HG?

Did I get something wrong there? Newton in '08, Jurrah in '10?

You know what the hardest thing about taking that mark was for Jurrah? The media attention after, and particularly the interview up on the podium. Did anyone see his face when they announced it? I reckon he went whiter than Kyle Cheney. It's so interesting that a moment like THAT is when you see the whites of his eyes... but sailing for a mark over the head of a 195cm, blonde, pretty-boy, #1 draft pick, standing bolt upright, then taking it clean as a whistle and hurtling head first towards the deck? What does he do then? Just casually stretches out the cramp in his calf.

I reckon when most mortals take a grab like that (everyone has one or two in them) what they fear is the impact of their hands, face, behind, whatever on the turf. When Jurrah goes up for his next one of these, I reckon if he drops it it'll be because he's seeing the microphone and TV cameras that he'll inevitably have to stand in front of.

Congratulations Liam. So much untapped potential, it wouldn't surprise if he delivered GOTY an MOTY in the same year. Keep on thrilling us LJ.

Our congratulations to LJ also.

It is really amazing to see how far he has travelled personally in only 2 years. He was naturally nervous on stage (as were a few others esp Jack Riewolt) but responded well and with good humour to Barge's questions.

Loved his response when asked whether he could produce an even better mark by saying "yes. in a year or two'.

Surely there must be odds already for him getting the GOTY and MOTY double!! :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the GOTY and MOTY winners get $2500 in fuel and a Panasonic TV pack thing? Worth over $9000 apparently...including a 65" TV.

Liam can watch his mark in HD on a big screen now :)

No-

GOTY-Panasonic pack=$9000

MOTY = $2500 Caltex petrol

This is my understanding

No. eth was correct.

MOTY gets the Panasonic System PLUS the $2,500 petrol. Goddard argued the case for MOTY to get something more substantial.

GOTY gets the Panasonic System only.

Congrates Liam...only a few games and look what youve done....Next few years we wont have to vote....The nominations for MOTY will be: Liam Jurrah, Liam Jurrah and Liam Jurrah !!

You are right. Liam gets the $9,000 Panasonic & the $2.500 fuel.

Well done Liam.

I was speaking to my mate who is in Yuendumu last night (and happened to be eating Lasagne with LJ while we were speaking), and he said that Liam was joking that to get his full value for the years supply of petrol he was going to drive to Yuendumu and back each week!!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
