We all develop a fondness for different players over others.

There are a lot of Bennell bashers on this forum, but not me.

In my mind he reminds me a lot of the great Stanley Alves, speed, agility, daring, leap, intensity, desire to take on the opposition. A couple of years and he will be an A grader.

I have a great fondness for him as well. he really gets better as the year progresses.

I have been playing with nicknames for him. Started with bennell...long.

Then my mate started excitedly yelling "bennelli on the Tele". (dunno why, we are at the game.)

But he reminds me of a character from "the Wire" so I call him Bubs.

What about "Hi Fi". ( JB Hi Fi ).

Good one Redleg. Someone should make a banner saying 'JB, you've done it again'

Bennell will be one of the best small forwards in the future. I can guarantee you that

I still think he'll be a HBF / winger mostly. Like Jarrod Harbrow.

You're right, Bennell does like to present up the wing. He has great burst of speed and can peel of his man very easily to create an option. This was shown in the very first goal on Sunday where he picked it up and sprinted into the forward 50 and centered the ball which Dunn kicked

Same number of syllables.

That was the joke, should have put a "haha" in there!

Yeah, I loved that bit of play and the confidence he showed to back himself and sprint away from his opponent and kick it too the hot spot. From memory he play a key role in another goal in the first quarter with a silky smooth pick up of a somewaht wayward Davey pass and then a centering kick into the forward 50. Definate potential in this kid to become a part of a premiership side

Have we got him signed up , as I hear a rumour that the Gold Coast were keen?

Nifty and Bennell signed on for 2 more years earlier this year.

Harbrow is a good call. Doggies fan hammered him for being soft and no up to it. Not sure Bennell about HB cause i'm liking that Bennell, Jurrah, Wonnah combo.

He's going to be a player.

Bennell is a gun! The Eagles would be spewn we beat them to him by one pick.

I call him Benny!

Rate him very highly. I am considering getting his number on my jumper!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
