Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Debt demolished.

$1.18m raised.

Great result, the feeling must be of an enormous relief and now we work towards a successful future.

I thank all of those that have given their hard earned money to help a great club our club.

We all gave what we could.

Thankyou.

Following this post tonight motivated me to donate some extra money on behalf of my Melbourne supporting rabbit. He's pretty stoked to hear the news!

As am I. This is such a big moment for our club. We're really going places.

Just over 2 years ago, an Irishman named Jim Stynes came on The Footy Show. He laid out his plans for his newly acquired presidency, including getting rid of our financial woes. I immediately jumped on the phone and an injured draftee called Grimes sold me my first membership.

That evening my love for this club jumped up a couple of levels, and has continued to grow since then. This evening, it has managed to find another gear. I didn't think it was possible. We are debt free, no longer the laughing stock of the football world, and fast becoming a powerhouse both on and off the field.

Jim, the MFC is no longer in debt to the bank, but we will always be in debt to you.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Home now and what a fantastic night. It's so great to be a part of this fantastic club that I've been so passionate about for so long.

I know it was all about money but money's just money. What was important that so many people made the effort to contribute because they want to see the club not only survive but be great again as it once was.

My report can wait for another time but I do want to say what a fantastic person Jimmy Stynes is - even without the football his work at Reach has been phenomenal. What he's done for our club goes beyond even that. People scoffed when Ron Barassi started the Irish experiment back in the 80s but we can look back now and realise how important it was to the Melbourne. Football Club.

Now back to the money - and I hope I'm not sounding like a tv merchandise salesperson adding a set of steak knives to the deal but I think the final number will be even higher than was announced by Don McLardy. When I left the silent auction was still going and there were a few people bidding for naming rights on the players' lockers like they were lunatics.

The excess above and beyond the figure required to demolish the debt will be used to enable capital works to be carried out. I'm not sure what they might be bur rest assured that the club's facilities at the Bubbledome are second to none - not even Collingwood. Perhaps some of that money might go towards a trip to a high altitude location like the one the Magpies visit every year in Arizona.

Anyhow, after tonight, the sky's the limit for the Melbourne Football Club.

Well done to all involved, Especially to Jimmy and the board who have come in and this club has risen from the ashes of what we were.

As said the sky is the limit and now we have to make sure that we use the extra money wisely and invest back into the club to make us as strong as any other.

Thanks for all the posts W.J . It is great to wake up to this kinda news. Amazing result. Thank you will never be enough to say to all the Foundation heroes. Also to the supporters who donated what they could.

Jimmy is a legend in so many ways. Debt free after 30 years, that IS AWESOME. It's sad Peter Szental is not here to see the debt gone.

Go DEE'S

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
