What a moron this guy is. Richmond have a couple of easy wins against WC, port & Brisbane and all of the sudden they’re fantastic.

The tool still isn’t aware the NAB is the sponsor of the rising star award, and has been for about 5 years. Just plain ignorant.

Everyone in the media does not have to give Melbourne glowing reports 24/7. Get over it.

Moish, I am not under it. Just pointing out that he is still a hater. Even with the vast improvement this year, he consistently overlooks the Dees and talks them down. Really don't need glowing reports 24/7 just an observation.

I agree...saying Richmond has more potential is hardly 'hate'.

I have noticed an us against the world mentality on these boards lately, where everyone is out to get us, whether it be Dwayne Russell, Brian Taylor, Vlad Demetriou. Ridiculous.

Wow, he really stuck the boot in there....

Agree.

I can't really see it, in this instance. re:(hating Melbourne)

Even though I'm not head over heels for Russell with respect to some of he's comments, to be fair, I think you're looking too hard.

Just remember, there's 15 other clubs.

Exactly. I'd like to know OP what you found so "hateful" about his responses. So he didn't pick us to have the most success in the next 5 years... who gives a stuff? Just one blokes opinion.

I'm also getting sick of Russell talking up Dustin Martin like he's a shoe in to get the most votes in the rising star award. Don't get me wrong Martin's a very good young player, but the stats will tell you Scully and Tengove get the ball just as much, Trengove uses it better, Scully takes more marks around the ground and they both lay more tackles then Martin does.

Just gets under my skin when I hear him go on and on about Martin, and the most I've ever heard him say about Scully and Trengove are that they're 'promising looking players'!

Keep putting those pins in the Dwayne doll. It's sure to help... Maybe not. But "hate"...sheesh.

The actual article does not show to me anything pointing towards 'hate', just a persons opinion......all the better to prove them wrong, but really who cares? I will agree that Russell sticks a boot into Melbourne, but that's fine, he is a fickle commentator without much substance IMO and he will swing with the rest when are consistently good.

Richmond over the last mth have done enough for an 'opinion' to be warranted in their favor over us....no point looking at who they have beaten because we have beaten no one better than them at all, except for maybe Richmond themselves.

Nothing wrong with it IMO. Both Melbourne and Richmond will have good midfields in the future, we have a good backline and they seemed to have unearthed a gun forward in Rooey jnr. It will come down to who can put together the final pieces of the puzzle together.

I agree try to be objective - Richmond have unearthed some talent Nason, Martin and Graham(ruck)they have rebirthed Delidio and cashiered a few and perservered with Riewoldt and that is all now paying dividends. They have some self belief and will have some success. Lets not be jealous that others who have suffered without success for a fair while get some attention.

Love Jon Pieriks comment:

Upside: Which team has the most potential, and will have the most success over the next five years: Richmond, Melbourne, West Coast or North Melbourne?

A: A toss of the coin but have to go with the Demons. They may have come of age against Collingwood in the Queens' Birthday draw at the MCG. In the likes of Scully, Trengove, Grimes and Gysberts, the Demons, provided they can find a marking forward, could eventually enjoy a Geelong-esque dynasty.

I'm in a vexed situation. The thread is clearly stupid, but at the same time I hate Russell's guts, ergo I fully endorse this thread.

He did say the one point loss to the filth was his match of the year to date, so i think you are over reacting just a little.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
