Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

firstly i think moloney will not get off.... he did clip him in the head slightly.

Moloney has a bad history and last time the contact looked less severe! (2 weeks i reckon)

I mentioned it in the game thread

it looks like Watts and Miller might be a good combination together....

im not sure if we keep miller next year if the gold coast want him

Jurrah and Watts might work the same if not better ...

as much as a i like miller i think we have to lose someone from the forward line.

PS HOW GOOD is bennells hands?

can I humbly suggest that if we had have played Brad Miller against the Pies and WB we would have won both games and now be in the top 4. what he does provide down forward is strength, leadership and a marking target. Sure, maybe he won't be in our premiership side in 2014, but in the meantime he will help teach the kids how to win. I say we should play him regularly for the next 2-3 years and make sure we play finals football while we wait for the young guns to mature. He is a strong experienced body up forward, something we have really been missing. Well done Brad Miller.

I love him but I thought Aussie was pretty ordinary in patches. Not because he made poor decisions or anything, in fact it was generally the opposite when he got it, but that effort in the first or was it second (?) quarter was droppable, IMO. His opponent won the ball and then ran off him, as Wona merely jogged slowly behind him. Certainly should have been dragged (but I'm not sure he was).

I think you'll find , and this is the reason he was not dragged , was that he was under instructions not to make any EXCESSIVE chases and stretches for the ball because of his suspect hamstrings . He is being taught to modify his running gait to ease his sinews back into ' steel springs '

Interesting. It'd be more profound if this scenario could be confirmed, but regardless, you make a good point.

And if he can follow instructions in Darwin in what must have been an emotional night for him, we probably can rely on him into the future.

Guess you mean Wonna & Morton...tough but probably fair. Glad selection isn't my job tho.

Yes i was, but only because of the conditions up in Darwin. with 80% humidity and players were out on there legs in the last Quarter.

Port have finished strongly in the last quarter all year and that showed again as they nearly won the game from 8 goals down.

It was good to win a close one at last. Aussie and Morton are important players for us no doubt.

If he can't chase and provided 'frontal pressure' there's no place for him in this team. It's an important aspect of his game and without it, he's simply not best 22.

He made no head contact luckily as shown in the replays. He hit him in the side as Tony Shaw said and added that the Port player was acting a fair bit for a free.

with the new rules this year, if moloney is found not guilty because he doesn't make contact to the head, then should the port player not be charged with staging for a free kick?

How does it compare with Josh Kennedy's hit on Sylvia that broke his jaw?

That's gotta be the yardstick, from now on...

In my tipping competition I tipped Port to win because of our injuries and players coming in not being match fit. I also selected Port to be my SAFE winning team in my knock out competition.

I feel sorry for you. Ye of little faith! :)

Green was solid. So dependable & reliable. Jamar was fanatastic - but needs support. What do we do if he gets injured? Bennell was terrific. Having Jetta around gives him support. I think they make a great duo up forward. Watts great first half - still getting used to the speed of the game. Trengove - was everywhere.

My heart - slowly recovering. About time we won a close one. It will give the boys more confidence. They did not give up.

Wow. I know there are a lot of posters on this board that post on Bigfooty (which I am guilty), but i've just registered today with demonland and have to say I'm really impressed with the actual analytical nature and generally positive posts. I know we've just had a win which obviously sets the tone a little, but this joint is by far better than the BF lot.

I'm staying if you'll have me,

Fair enough. Sale was where I grew up. Been on the Gold Coast since '82...

I also travelled back into Darwin by bus and spoke to many locals about the game

Demons have many supporters there and with good performances will gain a strong foothold in the north. It was a truely inspirational night with the indigenous program and Jimmy giving selflessly all night (even though he was tired he continued to give). If the team can emulate his spirit we will win many more games and gain the respect of the football world. Well done demons

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
