No one waS \bagging the kid todays effort was full of praise still has some flaws he needs to work on but i like everyone else knows he will hget better each week, realists like me know that if we were playing a power side say like geelong or st kilda he wouldnt be so dominate as he was today and some of his kicks even though are penetrating they stil miss the mark but i am loving watching this boy become a man

What I love "or hate, depending on the score at 1/4 time) is how you log on to match stats at half time and see he's up to 6-8 touches. Your heart sinks a little as it seems he might be injured, tagged or just off. In each week he's lifted in the second half. What does that tell us? He wasn't just an extremely fit player in the TAC. He's an extremely fit player in the biggest league there is. In fact in 4 games, he's racked up 79 touches. As has one Jack Trengove.

AVERAGING 20 touches a game? WTF? That's amazing that we have two players doing that ALREADY. And they're not 1st gamers who've been in the system 2-3 years before their debut.

And it's not junk possessions either, the sort of possessions some young players might get playing as a loose man in defense or standing outside the packs. Both had 8/9 contested touches today.

Scully's handballs freak me out. They are more powerful than some players' kicks!

Petterd had a great rookie season, and then had the horrific injury where he almost died from the badly punctured lung.

Now he is uo and running and full of confidence, and its great to see.

Has some great strengths, and barely any weaknesses.

is it just me or did Bruce seem like he just CBF today? He just seemed like he could not be bothered chasing the ball. Is he not 100% fit or is he down in confidence? I do realise he had 29 disposals @ 90% (20 handballs), but he just did not seem the same to me.

There was one play in our forward pocket (Punt Rd end), where the ball was loose and Bruce seemed really slow to chase it. The ball ended up going over the line, when in reality he should have grabbed it and kicked it into the square.

I don't think any player ever goes out onto the field with a "CBF" attitude, but that moment did seem very weird to me. It was like he didn't want to chase the ball or completely lost his concentration.

His disposal count was greatly inflated today by the amount of one-two handballing that went on in our defensive zone (this can only happen against crap teams like Richmond btw). He was on the receiving end of about 10-15 quick give offs and then gave them right back as we set up the free link.

I recall that moment, I turned and the crowd around me had the same opinion, he just didnt want the ball. I assumed he had the CBF attitude as he just did not seem like he was running hard for the ball, just jogging.

I was only looking at the match thingy on the AFL website, but he seemed to be involved multiple times in handball chains fairly often, sometimes a fair distance apart. He couldn't be doing that if he wasn't putting in the effort off the ball to run and make himself an option again. Noticed a few chains where we saw things like Bruce-Scully -McKenzie-Bruce-Scully... Liked the work ethic indicated by these.

Bruce looked smart, balanced and cool today. I've been critical of his shabby passing by hand and foot but he showed the characteristics of a quality AFL player today. He looked like he had so much time to do whatever he needed to do to generate smart attacking moves.

I was feeling sorry for Richmond supporters after the game yesterday, knowing what it feels like to have forlorn hopes for the future.

Then I remembered after (?)round 22 2008, when Richmond beat us by about 15 goals. As I was walking through the car-park in my Melb. scarf, a Richmond supporter found it necessary to laugh derisively at me, saying that we were the "worst rabble he'd seen on a football field". It may have been true, but I was as depressed as he was elated. It made me feel even worse. There was no comeback(I just said.."ninth again, well done! what stars!").

How I wished I could have had my revenge on him yesterday. Generally, I find opposition supporters don't mock you after their team's slaughtered you. But this bloke did, and I hope he's "suffering in his jocks!"

You can take comfort in knowing that there's a special place in football hell reserved for guys like that. I have a feeling the ones who live down there don't take kindly to demon-bashing.
