not too shabby for this time of year.

MFC really needs to push it along again after last years success. So much to utilise... what with the new faces about to sign on and such. Somehow they need to package xmas packages .. Maybe some brownie points or discounts in the shop for every 'gift" membership a current member organises

Yep Im on board.. My membership just rolls over every year which Is handy.

gets me why more dont use this... set and forget..too easy. They ( MFC ) ought to push this a bit more...the monthly direct debit method. You dont really even notice it :)

I've signed up, and am disgusted with how ugly that membership counter is! :P

Am waiting to see what my work situation is like over the next few months, then I'll buy both my cousins their first ever Melbourne membership. Exciting stuff (poor kids).

Jurrah will be worth a hell of a lot of members if he has a strong pre-season..... He is the X-factor our club has needed for a long time.....

Gone old school. Sent form in the mail (the one that needs a stamp).

Signed up last week. Even though I probably can't get to any games in 2010 (live in Brisbane and can't be sure I wont be on call when/if we play at the Gabba) I still wanted to do my bit.

My suggestion (have sent it to a few at the club) is that the MFC do what Richmond does and recognise supporters for maintaining continuous membership of the club. It's just a very simple system where, if you've been a member continuously for 1-5 years you're called a Bronze member (for example), 6-15 years you're a Silver member, 16-25 years you're a Gold member and 25+ years you're recognised as a 'Life/Legacy/Legend member' (or something along those lines). You don't necessarily get any discounts but your status is reflected in the scarf you get with your membership each year. Perhaps the words 'Bronze/Silver/Gold/Legend Member 2010', etc could be stitched onto the scarf. That gives people an added incentive to keep their membership year in and year out and I think it also gives an added sense of involvement in the club. By being continuously a member you become a continuous part of the club.

As someone who used to work in public relations (gave it up, now Im a librarian lol) I know that while it's hard to get members it's even harder to retain them. So something like the system I mentioned could be a real help. At the least, I think it'd be worth the MFC having a look at it.

they do to an extent? Without being an expert on membership by any means; i am a 9 consecutive year "Silver Member" i think at 10 it becomes Gold Member. I know some clubs have how many years you've been a member on their scarves, which i think is a great idea, but i assume the Demons just dont want to be seen as copy cats by incorporating that same idea

I'm more than happy to stand corrected but, if that's what we do at the MFC, it certainly isn't something we publicise. Without making it known (RFC show it on their membership page) we can't use it as an enticement (to rejoin or even to join for the first time) and that is definitely a lost opportunity.

MFC have some really good initiatives in place (I particularly like the Demon Heartland scheme and will be putting my $50 towards it) so we should be making them as obvious as possible to those people who aren't already members as well as those who are.

Putting the number of years you've been a member is a nice touch but perhaps it's just a bit easier and more efficient to keep it at blocks of years (represented by the year being stitched in bronze, silver, gold, etc ?).

Was I correct in reading that if you DO NOT RESPOND to the renewal notice that they sent out, that the membership would automatically rollover into next year?

I recived a noticed b4 I went away, and now of course i cant find it. If so, that would be a great idea.

Can someone tell me when they send the membership packages out? Is it before or after the new year?!

Cheers.

Pretty sure they said they'll start sending them out in late November??

I do need new replacement stickers for the car. 2009 was a bad year and I had to remove the negative karma from the vehicle.

The message I got from the MFC said "Fulfilment of 2010 Melbourne Football Club membership cards and other membership entitlements will commence in December 2009. So, until that time, please regard this letter as confirmation of your 2010 membership payment."

It is it fantastic to have 9K members signed up less than a month after the GF.

Not only that but the club now doesn't have to send out 9000 renewal letters with all the work and cost associated.

Compared to only a couple of years ago when we couldn't get a membership renewal before Christmas...this current administration is light-years ahead.

it looks like we are the only club selling memberships at the moment. i wonder what the tally was the same time last year?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
