Ok, the commentators said it was definitely a broken arm on FiveAA, but then again, they're south australian

Unbelievable isn't it?

Rudeboy gave us the accurate news 20 minutes before the radio station did, and from a state away (presumably).

That caps off easily the most incompetent radio announcing I've ever heard.

And I've heard Andy Maher and Derwayne.

Rude Boy is a close mate of LJ`s. Read his earlier post and consider the matter closed. The good thing is that it popped out and straight back in so the ligament damage would be as minimal as a shoulder dislocation can get, although still incredibly painful. (I`ve popped mine more than half a dozen times!)

He`ll still spend quite a bit of time on the sidelines no matter how mild the `pop` was!

That really is quite an indictment on the station  !!!

But there does tend to be a general injury hysteria among media folk.

That being said.....

Jurrah hurt as Crows edge Dees

Jurrah being hurt is bad either way! We need games under his belt asap, not starting in 12 weeks time.

Gotta feel for Belly, cannot avoid getting hurt, and this is a last chance year for him.

[Deleted for player abuse - Poster warned]

Seriously, I wish Bell and Jurrah a speedy recovery, and wish Newton, Meesen and Hughes all the best to try and resurrect their careers with the Demons this season.

They just mentioned on SEN that Bell would miss 8 weeks.

For Jurrah, they didn't give a timeframe, but said they were seeking further consultation - but summised that he was cleared of serious injury

I guess that's good news. 'Seeking futher consultation' doesn't sound too good though.

Edit: See http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/90287/default.aspx for info. Says that Jones is OK, just soreness.

This is bad news all around. It's really disappointing we can't seem to have any

sort of luck with injuries. I'd like to see the stats over the last 3 years on how many total games were

missed by our list due to injury. I reckon we would go close to having the worst record in the

AFL. Wish Jurrah and Bell all the best hopefully the club get them right and Bell can give us a reason to back him

for another contract and Jurrah can ignite the MCG with his talent.

Wondering where this bit of information has come from... nothing on the AFL's MFC site, nothing in the Age's Real Footy, not even a Tweet from Schwabbie.

This makes sense.

The problem with a shoulder dislocation is that once dislocated the ligaments stretch. It will naturally heal in about 8 weeks, however, if the ligaments are not tightened with surgery, the shoulder is very prone to dislocate again with minimal force. The decison to go to surgury, means the club has decided it best to tighten the ligaments up now rather than wait to the end of the season. Clearly there was significant ligament damage.

A disappointing result for all involved.

Well I've not been a member for very long mate. And the season hasn't even started. Most of my posts are just to get me acquainted with this website on various threads. Admittedly I'm not a huge footy expert but I'm passionate about the Deez all the same.

From an email I got. A friend of mine is very good mates with Matty Whelan. Not saying this info is from Matty Whelan but the info he shares with me has always been spot on the money. Didn't want to cause panic, just sharing info that I received. Time will tell on the validity.

We'll live. If he's out for half a season that's life and it will give a few other guys a chance to show what they've got plus give him a chance to do some gym work and build up a bit (much Like Morton). While it will hurt not to have such an exciting drawcard on the field, it's not the end of the world. Remember, he's still a beginner at this level despite the expectations placed on him. He's not our Matchwinner just yet.

At least Morton will be able to lift weights. Can't see Jurrah lifting to many after shoulder surgery. Your right It's not the end of the world but still very disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing Watts and Jurrah lining up together this year. Here's hoping LJ can be back for the Queens Birthday clash against the Filth.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
