Hun article on Jordie

What a guy, I had never heard about this crows offer before, or that he was injured for a large portion of the TAC cup. It is shaping as a grey value rookie pick. In the article he says he's not theist skilled player but I would disagree with that I think his kicking is great, accurate and smart. He's a hard nut too!

Add that to the fact that he volunteered to stay on the rookie list so the club had an extra draft pick -- he's a guy who has obviously put the team ahead of the individual; more than once.

I really hope he turns out to be good enough so that he can be rewarded for his loyalty.

First I've heard of the Adelaide offer. Makes his decision to stick with us on the rookie list, for less money and security, even more impressive.

It shows that while Luke Ball and others might not rate us, this young group knows they're going somewhere. Rather than go play finals now Jordie elected to stay with us and work his way off the rookie list because "there's exciting times ahead for us here."

I've been a fan since the run of televised Casey games last year and look forward to seeing a lot more of Jordie in the red and the blue for years to come.

Stories like this are significant.

Hearing stories like this, and others such as Trengove and Scully enjoying being at the dees gives me a lot of hope for the future.

Loyalty is what dynasties are built on.

Great artical and what a fantastic LOYAL young kid, It looks to be the perfect marriage Jordie loves the dee's and will do anything to help the cause and the Dees love Jordie's attitude and application and will be rewarded for effort. The world would be a better place with more level headed Jordie's

Other than the obvious parts of the story, there is a significant little nugget in this piece for all armchair experts (that's almost everyone who reads this site, BTW): a lot happens about players, clubs, planning and contracts that no-one knows about. Now I'll just wait for someone to become hysterical about the fact that the club didn't tell us tha tAdeliade was trying to pinch one of our players.

Definately! I love the new culture which Jimma, Bails et al are slowly but surely establishing at our great Club. Just compare Jordie's decision with that of Chris Johnson just over 12 months earlier, or Brock McLean's more recently.

I LOVE this story.

I made sure I hunted him down and shook his hand congratulating him when I was at a club function with the new 2008 draftees.

Real humble country kid, could go far.

Very rarely you read a football story which genuinely makes you believe that some footballers still feel strong loyalty to their club, the jumper they are wearing, and their teammates, and not just money. This is one of those stories.

Jordie is now automatically someone you just want to see succeed and have a long career. What a great kid!

Loved reading this. To turn down an offer to go onto the senior list of a potential top-4 team this year and to stay on the rookie list of the double-reigning wooden spooner shows the loyalty and love for Melbourne in this kid.

Furthermore, the fact that Neil Craig saw something in him shows the potential this guy has to make it at AFL level.

Hopefully this is the start of a successful career with Melbourne.

This story is uplifting especially in light of watching a former player in a different jumper last night.

Hope he does enough in pre season to warrant an upgrade especially with Tapscott on the LT Injury List.

On what I've seen I'd say he deserves it the most out of the rookies.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
