Arrogant, CFC will suit the little mongrel.

Refused to shake a champions of the games hand in Kirk before the game. Haven't seen him have a touch yet either! Good riddens, probably why he is not the next MFC captain!

Ridiculous. He gave all he could to MFC, blood sweat and tears, including a large donation to keep us alive. He looked like a complete jack boot not shaking one of the fairest, hardest players of our era's hand but ridiculous.

I think its a case of if the shoe or in this case if the jumper fits. Maybe his true filthy colour is shining through.

haha very harsh brother, very harsh. Don't agree mate.

Honestly short of whacking someone from behind theres not much worse somebody can do in my eyes then not shake the hand of a champion when it is offered. I'm sure he didn't learn that lesson at the MFC. Maybe another sign of the "Team and culture" that good old juddy is attempting to build.

I must say I was annoyed McLean left as I respected him highly but after tonight i couldn't give a rats. That is the most disrespectful, arrogant, worthless thing I have ever seen. What harm is there in shaking the hand of a champion player. Poor effort Brock. Not good enough regardless of who you play for. It is just common decency and apparently Brock has lost his.

I think that is a bit over the top Tingles.. While I think he looked like a fair ye olde goose most "disrespectful, arrogant, worthless thing I have ever seen" is a bit of a stretch my goos man. I'd suggest Libba eye gouging and sniping Knights would top it, Matthews king hit on the Bruns, Solomon on Ling I'll add Lockett on Caven (exploding his face) etc etc are worth of comments like that.

memo to Carlton...'are your McLeans showing?'. Not so far. Am i missing things or has Mclean hardly touched the ball to 1/2 time. And good grief, what a dreadful match. I like one-on-one stuff but there's no one offering a target up forward.

Jetta looks good. They said he wasn't a great kick but he's hitting targets and he's quick. BP said he could have picked up Jetta as a rookie in 2008. Bummer.

Ok I missed this, he refused to shake his hand as the captain of CFC? (i.e. at the coin toss) or just as a player pre game?

Pregame in the centre square... McLean was in the middle. Kirk walked up to shake his hand. Mclean ignored it, spat into his own hands, Kirk just said "you won't shake my hand" (if I can lip read) and looked away like he didn't give a flying fig.

Yes that is fair but I think to someone who has done nothing at all except offer his good luck to him, to not shake his hand or even acknowledge him is just purely disrespectful. I mean no matter who you are if someone offers you their hand you shake it. Chris Judd always shakes opponents hands who does McLean think he is. Fairly certain he didn't pull stunts like that at the dees. Clearly he thinks he is better than he is. It's nothing personal I just cant stand arrogant or disrespectful acts like that.

Garry Lyon is also one that doesnt believe in shaking hands before the game

Another negative post all because he moved on ?

Thought we didnt allow these sort of posts or have we gone to the low level of Big Footy

This is the best place for demon supporters and i prefer it stay that way

Fair enough, he does not have to pre game, post match then dif, coin toss between captains yes.

Carey never did and snubbed Neitz If I remember right, I bet heaps of players don't, i use to play with players who wouldn't.

No big deal I think.

Wasn't there some one else who did this a few years ago and there was a massive media blow up over it?

I agree he looked like a fool not shaking, as I said before one of the fairest, straight ahead, best out of himself players of era's hands in a practice match. I'm not trying to be "disrepectful" but disrespect is one of the biggest [censored] statements sports people throw around these days. It seems to flow from the US sports were disrespect is high on everyones agenda and we've picked it up.

David Neitz did this a few years ago in his 300th, to Nick Maxwell. I'm going to assume you all feel the same way about Neitz as you do McLean for his actions.

Like I stated earlier this is one of the lowest acts a footballer can do, if Neitz was not embarrased about this its says something about him.

1st round NAB cub for a new club is hardly a 300th not that changes anything!

Its become as bit of a trend during the season proper not to shake hands with the opponent. You don`t see it happen much at all. But in an Nab Cup match, arguably the most respected skipper in the AFL in the last decade makes 2 attempts to shake your hand and you respond by spitting in your hands, just reeks of CFC arrogance. Poor form Chook

We forgive Neitz because he's a club champion. We bag Mclean because he chose to go to carlton, he seems to be representative of the new carlton. All arrrogance but no substance. Good riddance! I love his first 3 quarters, carlton have no forward set up whatsoever and are in big strife. This is great to watch, just great.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
