Brock critics start to emerge

Roost It

Recommended Posts

Now that Brock has left the club, his critics are finally emerging from the shadows. As I wrote in my reply to the "Loss of Brock" thread, does this mean there are many other favourite sons at the club you're secretly not rating?

If so, who are they?

Come on, let it all out - they may be here a lot longer than Brock was... it'll be therapeutic, I promise...

(balls time)

I hope borrowing this thread from Demonology is ok. I think it's a good discussion to have during these lean times.

I dont think this is the case at all. If you go through the threads this year everybody had a shot at slagging off brock.

Sure but it certainly spread and intensified after he went to carlton. The main point of the thread being who else don't you rate who may have so far avoided the griller, or has at least not been completely burnt by it yet.

I'll give an example to help us get started.

Tapscott - one trick pony, albeit a big one. The side doesn't need 2 Brent Moloney's, barely enough room for 1. Recruited to keep Trengove happy and that's fine by me.

Easy there RI, Tapscott is my favourite. Pick someone else will you.

What makes you think pick 18 in a weak draft will be any better than Moloney. Chances are he won't be and if that's the case he won't last 3 years.

He will Last Longer than you Roost-This thread is a disgrace, and should be deleted.

Dissing a guy before he has played a game....Very Poor Form.

Big Call.

He has better disposal than Moloney - although Billy is one of my favourites, I always thought his kicking was only average.

Beyond that, I don't think we've seen enough of Tapscott to compare their games, the speculation is based on them both having a similar build.

I do worry that his physique may have allowed Tapscott to manhandle the other kids in the juniors, but I'm happy to wait and be proved wrong.

I've never rated Bruce as highly as everyone else. I wouldn't care if he left. I definitely overrated Brock (see sig.).

I'd agree. I don't think he offers the club all that much, but that's just me and I accept that the club probably sees a lot of things in him that I don't.

Either way, I think he is over-rated and he's been a source of frustration the past 3 seasons.

Maybe I expect too much of him.

Overrated by whom exactly? He gets bagged from arsehole to breakfast on here and Demonology. More than anyone else on the list I'd say.

I'd say the problem is that he was overrated early in his career and that has skewed many peoples' perceptions of him completely.

I think he's criticized by people like myself, but that we are in the minority.

Some seem to think he can do no wrong, and in my eyes his flaws are glaringly obvious to the point where I sometimes think he's a liability.

Oh good, I can see this degenerating into yet another Bruce/Miller/Newton/Bell bagging threads. At least Sylvia has stepped up, Robertson has been retired and McLean is at Carlton, so there are three less names.

At least a few people will feel like heroes at the end before taking their hands out of their pants.

Would think only contractual reasons are why they are still at the club

I would be very surprised these 3 are demons in 2011

Well built long goal kicking marking half forward flanker is good enough to get in my team thanks very much

I really dont think our FD plays politics with your Trengove analysis and " jobs for the boys"

I am realy looking forward to Tapscott,s development as i think he can be very important part of our forward line for years to come

I would like to throw Scully's hat into the ring for having an ugly sister.

the previous #1 pick Jack had two very attractive sisters

talking about bagging players.... i saw T. Scully swimming today. he should stick to footy.

but seriously, what happened to 'supporting' a team as 'supporters'. I don't think all the criticism of Brock was necessary, even if i wasn't personally a fan of his, but i definatly don't think we should be encorouged to bag and bring down even more players. Try looking on the bright side of life.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
