Ball for Melbourne in the PSD?

It's dependent on when his contract ends. If he doesn't have a binding contract prior to list lodgement, he automatically is delisted & if he nominates, he'll go into both drafts.

All contracts end 31 October.

AFAIK he can nominate for either draft or both.

So we should be happy with that then just conseed that we are a crap club and nobody wants to come to us. In '97 we were a crap club, in '98 we recruited White and Shanahan suddenly we weren't a crap team. The club should be trying to grab the best players Ball is clearly the best unsigned player we should be moving heaven and earth to entise Ball to the club not conseed like you always do.

The transformation of a crap club into a not-crap club hinges on more than the addition of 1 or 2 players...

If it wasn't for some coaching moves and a fade out the bottom team pushed St Kilda for three quarters, if Luke Ball was at that game he would think this club is on the way up, I disagree with many people we aren't as far away as most people think, I can see us playing finals in 2011. We made some decissions this year that ensured the club would get the best two kids in this years draft, we are a lot better than what we showed for the last 10 weeks.

It sure helps though. Scully, Trengove and Ball(?) will make us a better team add the hopeful improvement from the likes of Jurrah, Grimes, Watts, Sylvia, Frawley, Morton etc and suddenly we could surprise a lot of people.

We werent a crap club in 1998 because in addition to White and Shanahan we got Ox, Tingay, Lyon and G. Lovett back from long term injury. Pretty big gets.

Our list at the end of 2007 was far worse than 1997 and we are now 2 years into a complete overhaul of personnel.

I agree we should chase Ball but lets skip the hyperbole of heads rolling. Such grandstanding is usually accompanied by a lack of facts.

BTW, its concede and I have never conseeded in my life.

good post rhino. spot on

i'd love ball. he may not be in our next premiership side but he would help to speed up our improvement and take some heat off some of the younger guys. given we haven't sacrificed picks it is all positives.

still plenty to do though. but we have a strong position.

I would be really happy if we got Ball, the way he goes about him self and plays his footy is just fantastic.

Pic 2 in i think they called the super draft, people say his best is behind BS dont believe that.

My mail is that Ball/Connors are absolutely furious with St. Kilda/Lyon. No chance to be at St. Kilda in 2010 given he was promised that at worst case, he would be organized in a trade.

I have heard Ball knocked back a 3 year deal mid year @ $400 K per season. Luke Ball was an elite player in 05/06, but not anymore. Would much rather pick a youngster at #30 (we got Beams with Pick #29) than Ball.

We already have 4 picks in the first 18 of the Draft. That is more than enough young kids.

Would be great to Balance that out with experience in the midfield.

You say Luke Ball's Body i shot??? Looked pretty Dam Sharp on Grand Final Day to me old Xav......

Back to your cave.

A St Kilda supporting mate reckons he's contracted at the moment. But he couldn't be as there is no wayt that we could get him in the PSD if he was.

Can anyone confirm. Is he contracted?

I will be bitterly dissapointed if we don't ge Luke Ball & not because of his on field/off field benefits to the club.

It would be a massive slap in the face to the MFC if he does not want to come to us, we have no1 PSD pick, room in the cap , he is guaranteed major playing time and the MFC want him.

make it happen MFC and get some respect back in the footy world

lyon hardly sounded excited to still have him when interviewed straight after

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
