Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hi guys just wanted to hear a few peoples thoughts on where we all think Brad Miller is at.

Me personally i think we could of given Robbo another year because at least he'll kick ya two goals a game and hes proved that over the last decade.

Brad Miller though has had in my mind enough chances now, hes been around the club for 8 or 9 years now and i think hes just taking up room up in our forward line.

If he hasnt done anything for us yet then when is he going too???

Hes still only 26 this is when footballers usually hit there peak, would we get much for him on the trade table? im thinking later second round?

Whats everyones thoughts coz i thought we probably should of traded him a year or two ago.

Believe me, Brad Miller is not in our long term plans now and would be very lucky to be in our short term plans.

He will be shopped around, but I doubt there will be any buyers...

Its not a question of him or Robbo as neither of them would be wanted for next year

They'll try for a trade this year. If not, another year at Casey will be a good way to see him off. Hope to never see him in the senior side again!

What about Gold Coast next year?

Or does Gold Coast have some rule in place about trading for players dependant upon what age they are?...ie.. must be less than 25.

Just thought I'd throw that option in. I only say that, because he is from Mt Gravatt, Qld.

miller is basically holding a spot until the younger guys develop...miller is a big body...doesn't seem to get injured a lot...sometimes does some good things...but he's def not in melbs future. I think melb will try and trade him...but he will def be at melb next year...i hope i'm wrong.

I think no team would want him...unless they needed a strong 2nd/3rd tall forward....he would be great for the cats or hawks...forward line...personally i think cam mooney is a hack and is in the same league as miller. so would luv to see them in the forward line together.

I'm pretty confident GC wouldn't take him. Currently there is 16 teams in the league. I think all 16 teams will be trying to trade there 'Miller' type players to GC for an early draft picks. I think GC are in a pretty strong position.

If they dont believe he will push for selection at MFC he should be delisted. We wont trade him even as showbag filler.

Miller gets unfairly slagged on this site. He is a player who has worked hard to get the most out of himself. After 8 years I dont think he cuts grade consistently to be part of the future. Apparently a top bloke and a good leader to others at the Club. I think his days are numbered at MFC.

Just thought I'd throw that option in. I only say that, because he is from Mt Gravatt, Qld.

Why do people link players with Clubs of their State of Origin when there is no plausible reason to for the Club to draft that player?

Some should explain that compassionate family reunification is not a relevant criteria to trade players.

I not having a shot at you HT. This sort of thing is done frequently (eg Bell) that defies basic logic.

I know you're not having a shot, as I'm of the same opinion in relation to linked players with their home state whenever trades are mooted.

I understand it is done frequently. I don't think it defies basic logic entirely. As some players have gone back to their state of origin, not many but some have. I don't know GC's intentions exactly...but I think I read somewhere they have a policy not to draft players over 25 years of age. I could be wrong. So, that would rule Miller out.

However, it's not often a new franchise comes to fruition. My point being they need a list and are entitled to an uncontracted player from each club. Miller is out of contract when? Next year?

Probably won't happen as he'll more than likely be seen as a list filler, but if they're struggling to get a mature KPP defender for example from other clubs....who knows. I couldn't imagine us getting a pick from him by the way.....if that's what you're thinking I'm getting at.

HT, they wont be struggling for a mature KPP.There are better options and GC wont be wet eared dumbies either

We could offer him up for a trade, but I would doubt that there would be any interest at all. Maybe we'll end up with pick 50 or 60 or something virtually useless. Either way, he is a very, very small chance to be on our list next year.

If he's got a contract he might be a bigger chance than you think.

Poor ol Bradley.. ive maligned him as muchas any but he does try. Its just not to sufficient avail most often. I think he'l either be offered a years extension as some sort of insurance whilst others develop or he'll be outshopped as part of some inglorious package ..i.e ..all but given away but possibly bettering a later pick..and Istill have a gut feeling he may well end up at Sydney in this manner.

I think i n many ways people have been very hard on Miller around here. If you really look at him on the ground there are the makings of a pretty decent player there. It's just the flaws in his game that are ruining him. His kicking is the obvious one, and I think his slow decision-making is another issue. Just looking at the way he carries himself and the assurance when taking a mark I think that there is still something to work with. He could certainly be turned into a pretty good back, or if someone could make him kick straight a decent second/third forward. Nobody can fault his work rate or his marking ability.

That being said, I don't think Melbourne is the place for any of that to happen. We already have plenty of good defenders and there are a bunch of guys coming up who can kick better than he ever will. Do the right thing by the player and trade him to someone who can use what he's got and maybe fix what's broken in his game.

I think he'll stay.

If we were to play finals in 3 years or so, and we ended up playing a game like the Hawks/Bombers game, Miller would be one of my first picked.

If he's not there, we would find ourselves in 2000GF territory very quickly. Actually, we'd probably end up in that kind of situation with or without him, but he'd certainly alleviate some of that pressure.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
