So does anyone think he'll get picked up? Maybe a fit for Swans with Micky O going and Hall gone?

I did think the Swans, they have a history of recycled players.

Robbo did promote himself by highlighting his loyal history and 'being a role model citizen'. With two high credentialed forwards gone in Sydney, it could well be the Swans in the PSD.

Wouldn't discount the doggies - he'd be an upgrade on Welsh, that's for sure.

The point of interest for Robbo's last two games is ....

Games Goals

Lyon, Garry 226 426

Robertson, Russell 226 422

Two games to play, four goals to get.

Someone tell the cheersqaud, someone make a banner, let's celebrate the milestone as Robbo becomes the Demon's No.3 all time goalkicker.

Well done Robbo.

The friendliest of all, always acted as if you knew your audience personally.

If the Demons didnt give much, you always made it worth the trip.

Best wishes.

Congrats on a great career robbo...

It's a shame the club is in it's current position, as you're definitely good enough to go around again, but we need to bring the youth through and look forward unfortunately...

I think he would be most effective at a club who already has some big forwards, so he could play as the 3rd tall along side them... Geelong perhaps? In the pocket next to Hawkins and Mooney? Allow Stevie J to push up into the middle more?

And I really hate to say it, as there's only one club I wouldn't want him playing for more than this club, but that is Carlton... Could he be that extra dimension they need in the forward line next to Fev? If they make a Prelim this year, which is a real possibility, they'll fancy themselves for a crack next season, and could pick Robbo up...

Can't really see what's wrong with what he said, either.

Our second tier really has not kicked on.

OUr kids are steady developers rather than 'breakout' performers.

I've made no secret that I am a huge fan. I would be shattered to see him take the field against us, but if he does so then good on him and I wish him the best of luck.

Interesting to see that he's only four goals behind Lyon on the same number of games. Should give his detractors something to think about that he's come out about level with one of our club legends.

Not a happy chappy our Robbo. Says he was sacked.

Mark Doran interview today:

http://podsentral.com/the_good_oil.html

Says second tier and young players haven't kicked on.

I think it was a fairly classy interview considering the circumstances.

He's still a bit naive though when dealing with the media... guess you could call him honest and off-the-cuff

Well done to Robbo on a terrific career at Melbourne. He brought an extra excitement, enthusiasm and passion to Melbourne games that few players have done in my time following the Dees. I'll remember Robbo for many things - the spectcular marks, great goals and even better celebrations, and dragging the team into the finals in 2005.

Thanks for the memories Robbo. Going to the footy won't be the same without #24 out there. Well done.

Even I did and I would've packed his bags for him.

Robbo had a pretty good 2008, leading up to his injury. Had he gone to the Dogs, he may have just made the difference.

The club probably would have been roundly criticised for the trade had it happened, and the players and fans would have had cause for some chagrin.

The injury made it look like a mistake, but at the time, keeping him at the dees was the right choice. In fact, it still is. He's loyal, and deserved it.

Demons will help Robbo find club

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...09/default.aspx

MELBOURNE coach Dean Bailey says the club will do all it can to help find departing Demon Russell Robertson a new AFL club.

Although Robertson will play his final match with Melbourne in round 22 against St Kilda – in what should be his 228th game for the club – the exciting forward wants to continue his AFL career elsewhere next year.

"If he wants to carry on and if we can help him get to a club … then great," Bailey said at the MCG on Thursday.

"I don't think any of us will be standing in his way."

Bailey was full of praise for the way Robertson has conducted himself in his two years at the club.

Hopefully we can secure Robbo another club during trade week, so he doesn't have to go into the draft...

we could trade Robbo for pick 162, or something along these lines, given we no longer need to use any draft pick that we trade for... hopefully the club can help facilitate this pre-draft if someone wants him...

Loved watching him play, sure he frustrated me at times but the MFC was alot better having him in our team, especially at a time when we lacked any wow factor to attract fans

Thanks Robo, hope you are successful in anything you decide to do from now on.

My favorite player of all time.

Always had his number on the back of jumper.

Im going to miss him soo much, dont no how i would cope seeing him in another jumper.

Hope he stays inouch with the dees, he could really help the younger kids and he would lift there spirits.

Love ya robbo good luck in the future!

Nice post.

On Robbo playing for another club, provided its not Collingwood or Carlton, I'm ok with it. If he got a gig with Geelong or the Bulldogs and had a crack at a flag, it'd be great to see him go out in style. I don't think he's got much in the way of reputation to lose by nominating for the drafts and getting rejected. The end of this season being in and out of the team isn't the most glorious way to bow out anyway, so it's worth a shot. All the best to him.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
