Here we go

It's as if everytime we have a terrible game, people come on here and just let their brains explode all over the place.

I suggest everyone goes and has a lie down and a stiff drink before starting new threads... particularly ones that suggest Bailey is no good, Jamar should be offloaded, Watts is crap and McLean is a pea heart.

I've been an erstwhile supporter of Bell's. And I think he has a place in a developing squad.

But I think I'm going to lose this argument I've had with certain long-time posters. If he maintains his place in the team for a couple of weeks he might do enough to keep his spot, especially given he is one of the few with a mature, big body.

But when you look at our list, there's just so few that demand to be dropped... Bell and Jamar are both going to have more pressure on their positions now than ever, and I'm not sure there's enough time for them both to keep their spots. While many are happy with Jamar's game, I don't see how he's improved on what we've seen for the last 7-odd years.

I thought Jamar actually showed some improvement today on last year. I missed his game last week, but today he moved around the ground far better than I ever remember him doing. He got to more contests, and he wasn't afraid to use the ball by foot, and when he did kick, his passes were good enough for a ruckman... Not to mention he dominated with his tap work.

But Bell didn't show anything today. He'll be given more opportunities to prove he's worth keeping, but I can't see him doing anything to justify his spot on the list.

Robbo, Jamar, Bell, Whelan (maybe) add more?

Jamar??? You have got to be kidding. He is our best ruckman by a country mile. Today at the game, when he went off and OJ came on, we weren't as good in the middle. And for those who put their eggs in the spencer basket, i do not see the hype with this guy. He has the length of the Flemington straight to go, if he wants to be at least serviceable in the ruck.

its a fact, Bell is hopeless and Jamar is no better

Again , Jamar is our best ruckman at the club. There would be at least 10 players i would give the flick to before i got rid of Jamar.

Robertson

Bell

Whelan

McDonald

Johnson

Bruce (I'm done, I've stuck by him, mainly because of YzeMagic, but now I'm done)

Wheatley

Anyone who thinks the club will have trouble delisting 6 or 7 players at season's end just had their eyes opened.

Oh and I forgot, it may well be time to, dare I say it, trade Brock!

Bell I agree with but Jamar??? He is not great but who is challenging for his position? Meesen....subject to injury? Spencer....I hope he improves quickly! PJ...You're kidding. That player is the ultimate nut tickler. Cant ruck but not sure what else he does.

Paul Johson is not worth keeping, simple. If any of you seriously think we can win a premeirship with him in the team you are delusional. And yes I am [censored], and yes it's because I watched us take a big step backward today against Collingwood.

bell, junior, robbo ( his dive in the third was the final straw) wheelan, the players listed fall under at least two of the following, too slow, lack of intensity, lack of skills, wrong side of 28, cant just be a tagger/defender ( must have offensive side to your game.)

PJohson, Bell, Wheatley, Junior, Robbo > sad But, we need him next year, BUT NOT this model of robbo. His disgracefull lack of leadership out there, let alone on the big stage was just Pathetic.

Agreed.

And since returning, Jamar has shown clear signs of improvement.

He is winning the taps (needs to work on winning them to advantage now) comfortably, taking contested marks, blocking and helping the guys in the clearances. He is doing everything right for a big guy, everything I would hope to get out of a ruckman acually.

What we need now is to find him a backup because Paul Johnson is a costly player. Not only do we lose the ruck contest when he's rucking, but he turns the ball over time and time again, he can't handball, makes shocking decisions, and costs us goals (2 at least today, maybe more).

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
