hopefully strauss plays ones

Depends on Junior's fitness - if he doesn't come up then it creates the opportunity, but with the fifteen man rule, it'll be interesting to see who plays in the magoos.

If hes firing, your in for a treat. Believe me!

not really he played a whole year at old xavs amateurs and couldnt crack the first team, im associated with old xavs and he wasnt much there, so i cant imagine why he would be at melbourne.

dont get me wrong i hope he had improved as well. its annoys me however, how people are putting him into there forwards for 2010 and beyond next to Watts in the FP, when really they havent seen him play and dont know what there talking about. although they will tell you different.

Thanks for that. We learn something new every day...

Hopefully he's a lot better than u say, and has improved dramatically since then. I still haven't seen him play in the flesh, so i obviously can't comment on his talents or skills. But others here have and the majority seem to think he's going to be something special once (if) he get a couple of full pre-seasons into him, puts some weight on and gets more comfortable with big city life. Whether that's just blind optimism and bias from MFC supporters pumping him up, or if he is the real deal, only time will tell.

BTW, says in that article he debuted in the 1st's that week and kicked 2. So in fact, he did crack into the team...

Sorry. I'm just being pedantic, its 4am and i'm terribly sleep deprived.

Ive seen Casey a few times this season, most recently last sunday against Geelong....

Don't know what he was like when sticksmorton was watching him but he is a freak now. No doubt what so ever. Very very very talented player.

I have seen him play several times, the last being last Sunday. He has the goods - bigtime!

BTW what is there in that article that gives anything but the impression that the author was also enamored with Jurrah?

 A whole year?! Wasn't much there?! Couldn't crack the Amateurs First team?!

- You mean while he was playing VFL for Collingwood and leading their goalkicking? More misinformation and innuendo, strange how it gathers around some people more than others.

This was when he was in Melbourne in 2008 playing VFL with Collingwood as a listed Collingwood VFL player (i.e. that was his club - where he trained, where his responsibilities lay etc). Old Xavs was a fall back for the VFL players (couldn't crack the first team!). Liam spent some of the earlier three weeks when he was not selected for Collingwood VFL playing for Old Xavierians (as a up feeder club only). OX was one of several clubs used by Collingwood VFL as a team where VFL listed players not selected to play VFL could have a run each week so they didn't miss out on match practice - not too fussed about how well they did at this lower level etc just for a general run (generally 5 or 6 of the 11 listed VFL players each week depending on how many of the 42 listed AFL blokes were injured/playing VFL). But other than having a run they had nothing to do with these lower level clubs. As previously noted during the time he played VFL for Collingwood he led their goalkicking.

Hopefully he backs up again well this week after last weeks stellar effort although l think he has been struggling with cold/flu quite a bit this week.

I am so glad this match is being televised. Really looking forward to seeing Jurrah play. Not to mention the rest of the young guns!

It's really exciting to see that many names listed that are young and up and comers. Very pleased it's televised. They should beat Werribee.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
