We have been improving, and with Robbo back with have just a hint of structure at the forward end. West Coast don't have much of a forward line, really, and our backline is in the better half of the comp already. Something's wrong with Kerr, so that helps our cause and I really don't feel my threat from the rest of the team ( except for the Q Stick). Maybe the travel might be a good thing for the team, who can tell?

So as you are all waking up on Sunday morning, think of me, flying across the Great Australian Bight, full of nerves for the day ahead. Melbourne by 17 points!

for those who love tanking, i recon this is an important game to lose...

i think we are only going to improve as the season goes on and if we have more than two wins by queens birthday (which we will win) we might tick over the magic four...

(plus, the more wins west coast get, the more chance that they dont qualify for a priority pick)

for those against tanking, if we win on sunday, it will be our first interstate win in a looong time...

I won't pick us, bu we're definitely a sniff. The structure is there, if not the skills, and to give you some idea, WC wouldn't push the Cats like we did on Sunday. We're a better outfit than WC, if only marginally. If the weather works in our favour, we could be a show... We did last the whole game against the cats, nearly winning the last quarter. So the young guys still have legs. But as you say NJ, this is an 8 point game... or perhaps a -8 point game. The Scully cup.

I love the 'really, I do!' bit in the title. Thanks for clearing up any chances of sarcasm.

On paper we should be right up there, but too often interstate we give away easy goals quickly and seem to play like a different side. West Coast will probably win, but if we play with the same intensity as against Geelong, but are able to make goals out of our opportunities, we'll be there with a chance.

I think Melbourne will win a tight Scully/Butcher cup over there in the West. And when I say that I mean West Coast will walk away with the 4 points. hehe. Eagles for mine by 16 points but we'll give them a shake.

...... ah yes...but do we WANT to ? lets come home with a slightly wet sail.. Too early..if you twig

wonder if a few changes might be required for this week ..lol

edit

P.S.

I think we'd struggle over there anyways, after losing to the Dockers Worsfold will be seeking retribution especially in front of a home crowd

We're in with a small chance, especially if Kerr's out. But we suck at travel and West Coast's been pretty good at home so far this year.

Agree. West Coast will be stinging from the loss to the Shockers.

For those thinking about West Coast as a chance for the spoon.....look at North.

completely agreed.. i think it will be very tough to beat them at home especially after losing a game to freo! then again we put up a good fight to the cats... i think like all of our matches we will start really well and lose it in the 2nd half

I think the Eagles are tanking big time. They're a lot better then they have played so far this year and last year. Still, I don't expect us to win.

It will be an interesting game. Well, to be honest, I find every game interesting right now. Another week, another challenge.

The Eagles havent been too bad this season. One shocker against the Saints, but I think other than that they've been in most games they've played.

I think it will be interesting to see how our young fellas do away from home again.

And just for fun, the odds are in. West Coast $1.20, Melbourne $4.40. Make of that what you will.

Round 14 2006 against Brisbane at the Gabba was our last interstate win.

Yeah, Neitz kicked 4 goals. Green had 30 touches.

Yze played, White, Ward, Pickett, Phil Read was in that team. Chris Johnson, Holland and of course, Trav.

Bradshaw kicked 8.

Seems a long time ago now.

At Betezy even worse with WC $1.18 Dees $4.52, that's insane unders for mine.

Dont think we need to worry about loosing our priority pick to West Coke. They play well at home, and will win more games than us on their home ground basis alone.

My second point is that WE WILL win the QB match.

My reasoning;

We play St Kilda the week before, who will beat us for obvious reasons. If you look back through the rounds, every team that has lost to St Kilda, has come our and win the following week.

I know its only 6 rounds in, but its not a bad stat.

Hey, at this stage, I'll take anything.

We will definately be really up for the QB match. Anything's possible.

You must have money to burn!!!

Good lad though, supporting the boys.

Well the time has come to make the trek across the nullabor (or more correctly the Great Australian Bight!). The belief we can win has waned a little with the loss of Meesen, who I thought was having a breakout year. However I am still hopeful of a victory, and some sleep on the way home tonight.

I'd better get the wife a mother's day present while I'm at it (or will a demon victory be enough ;-)

Melbourne by a Davey goal after the siren from the pocket!!!!!

I have a feeling the rucks and our lack of leg speed in the middle will hurt us too much later today. However I would love to be wrong.

We need to make the most of our oppourtunies and If to win we need to put on more scoreboard pressure like we did against Richmond. But I`m confident of a good effort.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
