I would be very very very surprised and disappointed if this were true.

Jurrah just isnt up to it yet. We have a real talent on our hands with this one, and we cant bring an underdone player into an underdone side.

Maric MUST be called up.

The person shows their location as Alice Springs and claims that Liam advised his mother he'd be playing for Melbourne this week and in turn Liam's mother told him.

The poster seems genuine enough but it seems an improbable scenario.

How much more under done is he than Jetta and Bennell was?

If true i find it exciting.

He might just be a player who lifts under the "big lights"

There are a couple of people who do genuinely know Jurrah and his family, judging from reading previous threads about him there. But I wouldn't have thought they would have had match committee meeting yet, let alone decided a team so early in the week.

I would be surprised too. Also thought he was underdone. Who would he come in for? Bate ?

Could be possible mate regarding Bate.

But am i alone thinking Bate is not doing as bad as some are saying. Having a peep over at ology and you would think the kid is a piece of garbage.

For a player who has just hit over 50 games, and is being asked to be a main target up forward for his relatively small size i think he has been ok. Sure he did not get much touches on the week but i still believe he works hard and is a handy un orthodox player.

He looked pretty awesome on Saturday night at Casey.

He is so quick and so skillful, i reckon he would do alright.

He is still pretty slight, but a taste of the big time might do him the world of good.

He is just so naturally gifted and he just glides across the ground like a gazelle.

He is the sort of player that may only have a handful of touches, but they will all be special and they will most likely excite and ignite the side and supporters.

I say put him in the side. Start the learning process.

This guy is dead-set going to be an absolute favourite amongst the fans. I can't wait for him to put on another 5-10kg's, because he will be unstoppable once he is physically ready.

Don't know how anyone can say this sounds legit, the 2nd post in the thread describes a situation he fibbed about only a couple of weeks ago.

sense Bailey wants to blood Jurrah and Watts ..and maybe a few others in the back half of the season.. Allows more time for preparation as well as some sense of continuity into next season

I say bring him in so we can all see him play :P

It does make sense that his debut will be planned ahead of time so his family/friends can be there. His level of "readiness" is also interesting. Jetta and Bennell don't seem ready physically but are doing fine. Whenever it is though it will be very exciting, and will be another step in an very unique story.

erical is the guy on BF who has made this prediction, he does have some history with claiming to know Jurrah's family and having inside knowledge, let me explain...

At the start of the year he created a thread on the drafting board stating that Jurrah was not happy in Melbourne and had left the club and gone back home, obviously this with complete and utter crap. Another poster said that he knew who erical was, a bus driver based in Alice, so it's plausible that he may speak to Jurrah's family on the odd occasion.

Whatever the truth is, erical's first claims were bogus. His family may have said something like 'Liam is finding difficult in Melbourne' which is fair enough and plausible, perhaps the chinese whispers effect kicked in? Who knows, just take it with a grain of salt.

I'd be rapt to see him play, but I can wait a couple of more weeks for him to develop his game more.

I was at Casey on Saturday night. He is not even close to being ready and would be very suprised if he played.

really? Wy not ready you think? I reckon throw him in and see what he can do. You can see the magic within him i have a feeling he is going to produce something beyond brillant when he steps up, Got to be better than Newton and a few others

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
