Iv'e voted Davey, he has started the season brilliantly so far and he deserves the job.

Yeahh but the captain doesn`t have to be given to the best player. Although He would fit into the leadership group. Brock Mclean bleeds red and blue. Only player to donate $10,000 at the debt demolition night. I would also consider Brent Moloney. Another one who bleeds red and blue. Used to go for them as a Kid,would make a very good Vice-captain or even Captain. I would like to see either Brock Mclean,Brent Moloney and Jared Rivers as Captain after James Mcdonald is finished.

Davey, Rivers will not be captains. Jones and Morton -> we don't know.

McLean has been inspirational for exactly 1 game, against St Kilda in 2006.

Give it to Green IMO.

None of the above wait till later in the season to see who deserves it, how can you have grimes on 1 game, mqybe in 5 yrs time but not the next choice there doubt he will be considered when junior hands over the reins

Where is Jack Grimes?

The guys listed need to concentrate on getting a few kicks and playing well for the rest of 2009 and future captaincy is a long way out at this time. Hopefully Junior will retain sufficient form to continue into 2010 as dont see anyone else being ready. Also that would go to end of DB's term.

If had to appoint someone else in the short term it should be Brad Green but probably wouldnt be!

Of the 4 in the poll Aaron is the maturest mentally ( I dont know Cale but he would not be short term prospect).

None of the Above. (Morton Maybe) Personally Green should have it. I love junior but i fear the game has passed him by. I wish he was an assistant coach this year.

Hopefully Mr Watts will be our next long term Captain.

Give It to Green and wait for Grimes

Why is everyone pumping up Grimes?!!! WTF? We're not that bereft of leadership are we? I like the kid but he's played one game! Just because he speaks in complete sentences and says all the right things, that's like the LAST thing on the list of captaincy requirements I'd worry about. Let's first see if he can play the game, play it 22 rounds in a year, isn't slow, isn't injury prone, doesn't shift clubs (unlikely, he's a demons supporter)... most of all let's wait until he's well out of his teens. The same goes for Morton too. What's the deal with everyone trying to plug captains that have barely eked out a season yet?!!

Back on topic, I would say Green all the way at this stage. I wasn't always a fan, but every week he earns it. He's come of age, and while he's not a league star, he's the best man for the job going round at the moment. Besides JMac of course, who is a confirmed club champion.

I like to think that given the responsibility, Green will flourish. I remember hearing a speech from someone old and important not so long ago that went something along the lines of... It's only under duress and stress that a persons nature is exposed. Some men who seem most likely to succeed, fail miserably, some endure... and others shine like they were born to be tested in whatever manner they are. The way Brad came back to the leadership group after being left out? He could easily have packed it in, switched clubs, cracked the sads. But he knuckled down and earned his place in the leadership group again.

Until a premiership captain can be crowned, Brad is a sensational interim captain, and is now even an on-field leader. Actually, saying he's interim is probably unfair. I think he'd surprise a few people.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
