Why cant we play both Meesen and Spencer and use Johnson as a forward target???

We've tried PJ numerous times in the forward line already. I always thought he was better suited to being a forward than a ruckman, but he's never really done enough when he's been played there. Plus his kicking for goal is poor.

Playing all three would make us even slower than we already are.

No. The LTI replacement is to bring forward a player who could provide a useful addition to your AFL side. He may be a direct replacement for the LTI player or address a current shortcoming.

If a player is not ready to play AFL then there is no need to elevate a player.

We have the pre-season and Casey to understand where our sub 22 players are at. I cant think why or who you would elevate now. From Saturday's Casey performance there is no rookie worth lifing at all. Given we have Watts, Blease and Strauss and possibly Bail to come through I think there is enough players to see what you have.

Given we have a chronic problem with rucks and only three on the list, why would you delist Spencer at this point?

"Useful addition", "direct replacement" and "current shortcoming" are redundant.

It is only necessary to say "A player moved to the LTI may be replaced with a Rookie......................".

Well if none of the Rookies are worth promoting, and Spencer isn't worth playing, do you think we should upgrade in him place of Garland when Jamar comes back?

I personally think it's a chance to see what your players have at the top level, if you don't then that's fine

I love that he's a revelation because he is not as completely horrible as we thought he'd be! :D

Come on, he is hardly a 'revelation', but at least he isn't an embarrassment either.

Slow (although isn't he meant to be an elite athlete??), and his disposal is shocking by foot (HANDBALL AT ALL COSTS!), but he actually competes in the ruck as opposed to going down like a sack of [censored] and conceding the contest before the ball is even bounced.

No way can he and Jamar play in the same team though, so either we teach PJ to ruck (good luck with that one), or hope that The Spence develops into a top ruckman, with Meesen as backup.

Meesen was great today. I think PJ and Meesen is going to be a good ruck duo in future years. Right at this moment in time, I would say that Jamar is our No. 4 ruckman.

Meesen- 16 possessions, 5 marks, 13 hitouts- he looks a real deal.

Spencer will have trouble getting back into the team.

The best thing about Meesen is his ability to run and pick up possessions. He also has a safe pair of hands.

we actually lost all momentum when pj went into the ruck. meesen was critical. he was essential in instigating the 8 goal 2nd quarter

but pj behind the ball really works. he is much better around the ground.

Agreed about his rucking. However if he cant ruck then what position is there for a 200cm rover?

And he was only rucking against Graham.

I did not think there would be club with six ruckman on their list who could possibly worse than MFC in the big man dept...Enter Richmond.

Simmonds is at the end of the line and was horrible. 12 months ago he would have had the MFC duo for dinner.

Credit to Meesen who has probably hasten Simmonds decline.

Meesen did his job today but is still very much W.I.P.

I still think Spencer has a great future at MFC.

I am not sure why PJ commands a spot since he cannot ruck. He has not nailed another position as his.

I thought Meesen was good today. The play that summed up his day for me? The contest in the goal square right before the half time siren where he had the smarts to rather than mark the ball in the contest palm it forwards to Miller to snap the goal. Very clever. He's still got a way to go, and yes does try to handball to a guy beside him whenever he wins the ball, but encouraging signs...

Good effort from Meesen today. I like most havent held much hope for the guy but very happy to see him competing well. Not sure what his ceiling is but we're going to find out.

A big game for him against his former club next week would be nice.

Personally, I'm just delighted that spot #26 on our list isn't completely going to waste like I thought it was leading up to this season. He still has a massive way to go to being any good in my eyes, but at least we've seen that there's something to work with.

I watched all of last Sundays Game on T.V.

I was really impressed with his performance-Yes he is Raw but he was part of that 8 Goal 2nd Q. And after reading on here for 18 months how Awful Meeson was & that he really should be shot, it just proves that practise & Reserve games can sometimes say very Little.

Meesen was given a shot last Sunday & he grabbed it. Good on ya Bloke Keep trying. Melbourne really wanted him & last sunday just might have got John rolling.

I think Johnson and jamar should be worried.. Meesen seemd to give the oppostion problems when he was and and he clearly made a difference at the stoppages. now if stynes can make him fit and mobile and play 180 games without missing one it would be great..

come to think of it get him back out there ...

put stynes in a forward pocket lol that would stuff with the little defenders
