We are Back. The MCG is our Home. This is the one we needed. Jim Stynes you have done so much in a short time, with still much to do. But this was the big one. Now we start to get Grunt.

I was stoked when i heard the news today. Proud that this club is no more a nomad to be tossed around. WE ARE MELBOURNE.

Anybody who wishes to slag off Jim Stynes come forward now-a mighty job he & the new Board have done. (Getting all the old Presidents together was a great sight, Tiger Ridley was there)

I Hope that the name of Jim Stynes will be remembered in the same way that Norm Smith is held in the Decades to follow.

The Melbourne Football club might just of found their old Mojo today.

Let's fill those stands of our Home Ground in the years to come with Red & Blue-make the opposition tremble when they visit

This club is going places. Thank you Jim Stynes. But times like this cannot even be cruelled by "anti-Stynes sentiments" because this is now about all of us. This is not one man in control, this is not a detached board helping the club, this is about the Melbourne Football Club and all it's followed coming together and turning round a club that was literally going down the gurgler, into a future powerhouse.

This is an amazing time, don't forget this time people, it's this time that we will be relating to our friends/kids/grandkids for years to come

There is still a lot of work to be done, not only to completely eliminate the debt, but to create revenue and above all else to ensure that we never EVER find ourselves in this position again.

But to wake up in the morning and not be terrified of the fact that your club is on its death bed is a liberating feeling. To feel secure in the knowledge that our current crop of youngsters will be able to wear the red and blue long enough to bring us that damn 13th flag, and to live in the hope that our kids and grandkids will get to see many more flags beyond, is the best feeling I've had in the 10 years that I've been a member of this great club.

He also introduced the Mates of Melbourne initiative, plus a couple of others that slipped my mind.

The last thing we need to do off-field is get rid of any remainder debt.

Once we do this, if we can regularly perform atleast break even each year we are CRUISING.

All the criticism MFC gets about its off-field

- we have no money- debt free

- we have no members- wrong!

- we have no home- hello Casey, MCG and Olympic park preccinct!

- no passion- WRONG!

There is nothing any clubs will have on us any more.

Then we can just worry about on-field!!!

Agree with all your sentiments on this thread. It is a pretty amazing string of events after being seriously on the brink the past 12 months or more. We were a basket case to say the least and the confidence the past 3 or 4 weeks has given all of us to realise we do have a future in the competition is a huge relief and a bloody good feeling. Being welcomed with open arms as an entity of the MCC is another massive step for our club.

Now that we have a far more secure future, watching our young list develop into a force in the next 2 to 3 years is going to be as sweet as it gets!

Read the Book he put out in the '90's if you can find it. Gives a great insight into the Man. Jimma doesn't give up. The last 6 months has shown that. We didn't hear much but the wheels have sure been turning at the club that's for sure.

I do wonder, though, how the complicated interaction between the MCC, the MFC, and the Stadium deal arrangement can pan out.

We must bear in mind that the MCC committee(???and the government-influenced MCC Trust) must represent fairly not just the 25% of MCC Members who support the Demons, but also those who support other clubs.

As an MCC Member, if I,(God forbid), barracked for Richmond, I'd want equal favours given to my Club....or perhaps on a pro-rata basis. With Essendon, this would amount to half our benefits.

I know that there's a fair bit of partiality to the Dees on the current MCC committee,(long may it continue), but it worries me that a lobby group could evolve that opposes favouritism to Melbourne. Presumably we should always keep the balance of power due to us having the highest proportion of supporters.

It's going to be a very intricate problem to sort out the stadium deals(which so far have been so unfair to Melbourne, and the other tenants), now that one tenant is in a privileged position. The other tenants must be a bit miffed.

What does the MCC think about Melbourne's distant hopes for a boutique stadium in South Gippsland?

You Raise some interesting points Jack, but i think a strong case in our favour is the Fact that we Helped Build the Stadium. Its our Suburb in that respect.

Other clubs can go back to their local suburb when things get tough. We never had that. We Had the 'G. What we need is a MFC/MCC Social Club within the Ground.
