How do we fit him in on the list without a long term injury and with auto uplift not available until the middle of the season?

If we don't have a long term injury by round 4 I would be pleasantly surprised, if we do then we get to see some more of him.

Win-Win situation.

Who is going to ruck in round 1?

PJ is a definite

Jamar is little chance due to injury

Meesen is just terrible

Spencer is on the rookie list

I am even more worried about our ruck situation than normal

We're not having a tilt at the finals this year. Slow and steady wins these races. I expect Bails to allow Spencer to furhter refine his craft for a while inthe magoos then use auto elevation mid year to bring him into the line up. If an injury causes a vacancy ...so be it.

Am not overly concerned in this matter. He be up and firing well before 2010..so its all good really :)

I have seen Jeff White running around the streets up here in Brisbane around the bayside area as he is now playing for Redlands in the QAFL. Next time I drive past I could yell out and see if he'd be keen to go back home? Funny thing is, is that he looks fitter now than he has the last 2 or 3 years at the Dees.

Jamar has not played one practice match and Meesen was apparently very poor again on friday.

Our ruck selection for the opening game is looking interesting.

Stefan Martin might be the short term answer. He came to prominence as a ruckman in the ammos.

We're well off for key backmen, and I can't see Garland, Warnock, Rivers and Martin all being selected for round 1, unless Martin is played as the 2nd ruckman. It wouldn't surprise me if he was a better ruckman than PJ.

:) That's a nice way of looking at it. Not having an LTI by round 4 would definitely be nice. But I see it more like this:

Who is going to ruck in round 1?

PJ is a definite

Jamar is little chance due to injury

Meesen is just terrible

Spencer is on the rookie list

Agreed. I like mo's solution:

Definitely an idea that will be considered. But, if Martin does ruck, what happens if/when Spencer is ready to play? Do we go with PJ and Spencer, which leaves us with the plethora of defenders? Or do we not play PJ?

I would say if we had any intention of playing Martin in the ruck in rd 1 then Martin would have played in the ruck at some time in the practice matches. I would say next week against the bullies will be more or less our round 1 line up. If Spencer plays then I will assume they have a plan to get him on the list sooner rather than later.

The only way for Spencer to get on the list sooner than later is by a player going onto the long term injury list which means the player in question has to be genuinely injured and would have to remain on the lti until at least round 9 i.e not even a game with the Scorps (or even school footy for that matter). Robbo wants to play in April, Jamar has a toe injury, Wheats a calf, Aussie has a hammy and McNamara and Maric are back in training. We don't have any options ATM.

Does anyone know when Jamar will be ready to play? If he's not ready I would like to see Miller in the ruck he's done it before and was reasonable. I want to see Martin play on Hale. Considering the year we had last year I can't believe that we will more likely debut no one and 2 in form rookies in Spencer and Valenti can't find a spot on our list.

Hypothetically if we had taken Jake "the snake" Spencer with pick 17 in this years draft and given his form thus far would be people be happy with the desicion?

I would.

Why would we have used pick 17 on him when we could have just elevated him off our rookie list before last years draft?

I'd be disgusted if our club was thinking along those lines

Look up the word "hypothetically"

Look up the word "hypothetically"

The latter is hypothetical; the former is a non sequitur. We would not have used pick 17 if we wanted Spencer, we would have elevated him and cost ourselves Pick 1 in the pre-season draft - Liam Jurrah.

Or our last pick in the National Draft - Bail if my memory serves (which I doubt)

We passed on our last pick in the draft; this enabled us to have a pick in the pre-season draft. Barry Prendegast has stated, after the event, that we would have taken Bail no matter what. This leaves us with the only option that fits the discussion - Liam Jurrah.

I wouldn't.

i wouldn't use a pick 17 on spencer. iffy on 35 too.

jamars a nick smith away from returning. spencer can't play as no one's qualified 4 LTI. I like to see Stef concentrate and nail down a spot. don't like youngsters (in experience) thrown around. Who's left. It's Meesen time.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
