Hmm. Compared with others mentioned and the mostly valid reasons why they wouldn't get on board, I think Intralot would have a lot to gain. If the head office is cashed up (?) *anything* that gets them good exposure would be brilliant after the negatives upon negatives since launch. Shrug.

To be honest I don't see what Coles or Safeway/Woolworths would get out of sponsoring an AFL team.

Brand recognition? Yeah, because they're such an unknown.

Loyalty? I can't see there'd be much noticeable difference.

Where's the imperative for them to throw money away?

I've done a bit of work with Globe through my uni course, and there is no way that they could afford to become a major sponsor of an AFL club. They are not large enough, nor will it be a wise financial investment for them.

Yeah, and even if Globe did have cash to splash around, I don't see how an AFL team fits with their brand image.

I have heard rumours, none of them particularly credible, that Betfair was in the mix.

The only way that Bet fair could sponser us is if they were aligned with Luxbet. Sportsbet was told no because of this as luxbet has invested interests in the AFL.

The Afl will open its doors next year to the possibility of another betting agent as a sponser.

Ive been thinking IntraLot for a little while now.

Brand new scratchie company from Germany, looking for someone to align to.

They're from Greece, and they're in no position to be sponsoring an AFL club. Profits are severely lower than what was planned and budgeted for. They only operate in Victoria (so they don't need national exposure), and there's no guarantee they'll still be here in 24 months.

Exactly.

Melbourne could do a sponsorship deal with Pacific Brands. Would certainly get Melbourne some front page news exposure which would be a good thing for the club. Plus Melbourne already has some links with China.

Apart from the fact they are laying off 100's of workers to save $$$ and then go and take a major sponsor ship? I think they could well get a lot of publicity for the wrong reasons doing this. Therefore this would not be in the picture

Heard on the rumour file this morning that we're going to announce our sponsor(s) on The Footy Show on Thursday.

Wouldn't be surprised. Garry would love to be the one heading up the announcement and would obviously have Jimmy and the other on as well.

I can't wait until we get a sponsor, and not just because it'll help give us some measure of financial security.

Some of these suggestions are ridiculous.

Yeah, hopefully they'll make announcement soon, I keep reading this thread for info but all I see are suggetions about companies to 'target'.

Good idea Jarka, we should try and lure "Target"

New Target Logo

Unfortunately Target already sponsors Geelong (and when I was doing some work at their head office in September, they played the Geelong theme song on the PA system quite regularly  ).

I did however have a chat with their marketing manager and suggested that they should look at sponsoring Melbourne too, as to not alienate their Melbourne consumers... needless to say he was less than impressed with my idea.

Well perhaps, and sadly its not the time of the economic cycle to be snaring our spiritually aligned car sponsor, the trident emblazoned Maserati.

Back to reality (maybe), looking forward to the footy show, hope some good news comes to light.

rumours floating around demonology and the radio that Gary Lyon has pulled some strings and that MFC will be announcing their major sponsor in front of the football world on the opening footy show thursday night.

If true it is a clever way of giving our new sponsor exposure and getting some positive press for MFC!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
