  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Major Sponsor Rumors?

If we weren't such a horrible side to watch on the field we would be given a better draw.

We can't ask for help from the draw until we provide something successful or at the very least entertaining on the field. The two go hand in hand.

It'd be nice if that wasn't the case but it is.

agreed, and our time will come.

Sorry I can not work out the quote thing.

From my post on 6th Jan

"FACT !!!! I'm sorry that I can't reveal my sources however the MFC just missed out on a major sponsor to the bombers. This sponsor will be a grocery item. A new company into Australia that wants to take on “CC’s”. The deal was very big and we lost the deal of a number of factors, but the major one was our TV exposure. EFC got wind of our negotiations and pinched them. It proves that unless the MFC get better free to air TV we will not get sponsors tho the levels of the bigger clubs"

I have not replied as I was awaiting to talk to my contact and EFC responce to the loss of the Mexican food company to the Bulldogs.

EFC is furious. The AFL (MR A.D) got involved and bascially changed the companies mind. EFC workred on negotations for some 3 months.

O well better the bulldogs than EFC. I'd rather it had been us!

If Mr A.D. changed Mission's mind, why didn't he change it so they became our sponsor?

The Bulldogs Have Just Built that Huge Facility out at Westie Park. Of course the AFL will push their cause. Don't Forget Mr A.D. said publicly last year that The MFC stands for nothing. To the AFL we are the pits. Making up numbers nothing else. If we survive this Hurdle the Club will have to do it with Help from the supporters. All money must be directed towards the Football dept where possible. We must win games to gain cred.

Would have the doggies been worse off then us in 12mths without it?

Because each year the AFL puts far more into the Dogs than they do into us = less of a bill to pay if the Dogs don't have a sponsor than if we don't.

Of course - it all comes down to money, and the less the AFL have to pay out of their coffers, the more left for trips to the Superbowl etc.

QUOTE (pitmaster @ Jan 6 2009, 03:10 PM)

Citi Group would be perfect - major international bank with growing presence in Australia - offices in Melbourne and Sydney and 2500 staff doing investment and consumer banking. and so far a low profile - go for it Dees!

Sadly you are mistaken. Although there are parallels with where MFC are at financially

Citi group have lost over 95% of its listed value on US stock exchanges through the global financial crisis and has been subject to a US Government bailout. There was a real risk that they could have gone under without the bailout.

As a consequence, Citigroup like many foreign banks will be reigning in their foreign exposures and concentrating on their domestic markets. I would expect that they will be cutting staff and operations in Australia going forward.

Watching Swans and Pies replay and I am struck by the Citi symbol on the Swannies jumper.

You are such a know all RR that I thought I'd give this a bump and maybe bump up some humility for your goodself since this 09 post was in response to my suggestion that Citi could work for us.

The suggestion that the citi group would be reducing their activities in countries like Australia is laughable, anyone in the industry knows that. The shut down some of their departments a couple o fyears ago that weren't making money but they're going hard for new business.

The good thing about Citibank is they can lose Trillions and the good people of the US will bail them out and be so stupid as to let them start trading again.

The financiers and scumbags behind them need public execution-after being tortured.

Welcome to the MFC !

We'll take your stolen cash Thanks.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
