It is 100% a sure thing that Brad Green will NOT miss out on the leadership group next year.

How anyone can put Brock before Green for captain is beyond me (I'm not bagging you guys, I just genuinely cannot comprehend it ESPECIALLY after today).

It's plain and simple mate, next generation. I would be stoked to have Green as the captain next year, and i think he's earned it.

But Brock is most likely going to be our main leader for the next generation and giving him the role as captain will give him extra responsibilities will solidify him in that position. IMO Brock has had as good a year as Green and has shown plenty of leadership through some difficult patches, so annointing him as the figurehead of the leadership group would probably be more about him growing into the role rather being the right person in the present for it.

Brad Green. His game on the weekend says it all.

Although I would not be disappointed if Cam Bruce got the gig. He seems to have relished being in the captains role this year.

Both are worthy IMO.

Dunny has a solid football brain, is relishing his new role, and isn't overly arrogrant / cocky (like some).... but thats not why he was chosen by me.

Lynden does a lot of charity work in his spare time, and proved last year he was our best clubman. He was the one to make the new players, and our new coach in a way, welcome to the club. I've heard he has the respect of the players, on field and off.

I just feel this are admirable qualities in a leader. I don't think he would make for a great captain, but as a club leader, I believe in him.

Plus a great smile for the press conferences

Tough question IMO, getting the 'balance'right ie blend of experience, forwards / backs / mids., as well as genuime leadership qualities on and off the field

At this stage I would go for:

1. Miller ©, His time may have come. My gut feeling is that the players look up to him as a leader. I think he will thrive on the responsibility, and could be a 5 year captain.

2. Green (co. VC), hard to go past the on-field example he has set this year.

3. McLean (co VC), likely captain-in-waiting, but needs to serve out his apprenticeship without further indescretions.

Then it gets really hard IMO.

4. Rivers, with fingers crossed that he can stay on the park.

5. Moloney. Bleeds for the Club, and Bails said in a recent interview that he has been fantastic working with the youngsters in an off-field capacity.

Apologies: JMac and Bruce. Time to make way for some younger blood, and as has been said by others, they don't need formal leadership responsibilities to be leaders.

Hmmm... i've actually got a feeling about Jack Grimes... was captain during Kreuzer & Cotchin's time at Calder.

Giving it to Brad Miller just seems too similar to Collingwood giving it to Nick Maxwell... gives his all, respected by his peers, but just.. not.. quite good enough to always demand a spot in the side & be captain.

My solution - Give it to Brock for a couple of years until Grimes is ready - either he'll stuff up again & lose it in good time for Grimes to take over, or he'll be the right choice all along & mature in the role like i think he will.

I think Brock will be a magnificent captain one day, says the things i want to hear as a supporter and his past 'incidents' are just a kid being a kid. He's a couple of years older now and i think he can handle it.

Brad Green from his media appearances seems to have the personality of a piece of cardboard... just can't see him being a popular choice for captain.

The way you perform on the field isn't the be all & end all with leadership roles - some people are great at football but not great people person...s. (People people?)

Sort of like the 'anti-Miller'.
