Who at the mfc would you have take "the" kick?

Siren has sounded. Trailing by 5 points. This is for the premiership. WHO would you select of the current players to take the kick - the kick that matters! As if your life depended on it! The man standing on the mark is 40 mtrs from goal.

Personally I would of selected the great man David Neitz. But he is retired now, so I would put it all on the line with......Colin Sylvia. But by geez I would be nervous.

What's your selection? Let's take a poll. Brad Green?

Is there a better more accurate kick than Brad Green over 45-60 metres at Melbourne? I would say Sylvia maybe. Wheats would get the distance but the accuracy would not be as good!....................What do you think?

don't ask me why but green's kicking for goal is over rated... he was great when he came to the club, and developed a reputation as a great shot for goal, but since then his kicking for goal has only been average...

yet commentators always comment on what a great kick for goal he is, and are completely surprised when he misses... does get a little frustrating...

i'd go with either Robbo, or maybe Brock... he's doesn't take many, but seems a pretty solid shot for goal...

Green, although he's not as reliable as he once was. Brock's pretty good inside 50. Ditto Davey.

sylvia?..you have got to be joking. he is not a bad kick..but for someone with hardly any experience you don't want him to be kicking for a bloody grand final.

Green and Davey are a bit older and are proven players. I'd probably go:

1.Green

2. Davey

3.Mclean

Roughies: Wheatley, White, Newton

Agree, Freak. Davey needs to get a bit of elevation, but he can do it. Tell you what if Wonnaemirri gets a bit more penetration and elevation over the pre season he'll soon be the No.1 choice. He is very accurate.

Davey or Wona on the run.

Considering the siren has sounded, I hope it's not a shot on the run we're talking about ;)

edit: High Tower - I imagine RR realises, and just wanted to add his 2c on who he likes from that distance on the run.

Dennis Cometti once said that if it was someone to kick for "my life", he would pick his mother "because at least she'd care".

On that basis, I guess we should get Dennis's mum on the list and use her.

I would have said Green in the past, but his set shot accuracy hasn't been what is was for years now, so i'd probably say Robbo. He's the only player on our current list that has shown an ability over the last 3 or 4 years to consistently dob those goals from that angle and distance.

Out of the younger fella's, Aussie's technique has been superb so far. If it were 5-10m closer, he would have been my pick.

In the whole league I'd prob pick Fev

Me too. As much as i hate the guy off the field, i'd always back him when he has a tough set shot, and more often than not, he doesnt let you down. The more pressure there is, the more he seems to strive too.

For all his mental flaws, one thing that can't be questioned is his concentration when lining up for goal. It's excellent.

a lot of you obviously don't want to win a flag...

brad green is not a good set shot for goal anymore... he misses lots of set shots... look at the collingwood game... missed a couple of easy shots at goal...

just because the commentators say he's a good set shot for goal doesn't mean he is... you've all watched us play footy every week, surely you've worked it out for yourself by now...

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.
