Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

1. The filth - missing Pendlebury and Rocca; last minute. Pendlebury particularly big out - bet they rested him thinking they could manage without him

2. We were spirited, and played with some passion (and plenty of angst)

3. Bode is way out of his depth; way, way out

4. White and Johno both won the tap outs, but frequently to the filth; they didn't shark it, it just went to them, even in front of them to run onto???? Go figure (Better get Warnock from the eagles)

5. Jones HAD SPACE. This time he seemed to have poise and space.

6. Morton is very similar to Bruce, including his kicking style, unfortunately.

7. To many passes were poor - need to be out in front of a leading player; too often on their head or behind them. Miller was great considering this.

8. I thought we were generally flatfooted. Not sure if it was the slippery conditions

9. Rivers needs to go onto the long term injured list. Reminds me of Hanson at the eagles - good player, but always injured or about to be injured. His (Rivers) career may be at an end, sadly; great player.

10. Our backline played with plenty of angry pills. They need to repeat it week-in week-out if that's the way they want to go.

11. Yze had great hands today, probably our best marking forward. Squandered it with poor kicking, or wanting to kick the fluke/wonder goals.

12. We need a new (club) runner who doesn't give away goals.

My overall feeling was that we were about to get over run at any time. We didn't, which is great. The filth had the luck overall. And we were a chance in the last 5 minutes.

I would have thought we missed Aaron Daveys influence just as much as they missed Pendleburys.

I probably shouldn't have put Robbo in. The filth duo were last minute withdrawals. Original post edited.

Cant ask for much more today from a bottom team against a team who are flying! Bar some inexcusabele kick ins and some terrible kicking at goal which cost us dearly, we should have won this match. Again , some very good signs with some risk taking running football and pressuring the opposition. I would just like to see them play like this each week without there being a reason such as 150 celebrations or Neita`s farewell!Garland n Knockers continue to get better much to the surprise of many including myself. Well done fellas

Bit harsh saying Morton kicks like Bruce. Morton was poor today, but he has been great until today. Bruce on the other hand has one of the worst kicks in the competition.

Watch the way he drops the ball; like Bruce, he doesn't use his right hand to guide it down.

BTW, I am not 'bagging' Bruce - I think he is a very good (not great) player.

And I didn't think Morton was our worst - great spoil forced a turnover on the wing - ended in a goal.

You observe well Mono.

Davey > Pendlebury in terms of influence, and Rocca's horrible, so we did just as bad there.

Our ruckwork was not good today. I'd like to know the number of hitouts we had (especially PJ) that were to advantage. Not many I suspect.

Morton really saddened me today. I love him, but he put in a shocker.

He didn't look great, but he should be persisted with. Asking a young player to perform on Queen's Birthday and not giving them another chance would be poor coaching.

6. Morton is very similar to Bruce, including his kicking style, unfortunately.

He had a poor day, but still picked up 16 touches, which is a fair effort for a first year player. He'll get better no doubt. This is probably the biggest crowd he's ever played against.

Am praying that he can get his body right. Ditto Moloney. He showed real aggression as he always does. Set the mood for the day before the bounce... again

Kudos. Pretty accurate assessment of the game. However don't know if you can pass judgement on Morton's kicking action. He had a bad day. I also thought Paul Johnson had a reasonable game but was on the cusp of having a really good day, had his taps gone to advantage and a couple of his marking attempts stuck. I didn't see the runner thing??

missed opportunites is what cost us today...

Sylvia

Morton

Green

Yze

all 4 should've kicked 2 more goals each than what they finished with...

adding another 42 odd points to the score and we win by 3 goals... i know it's a simplistic way of looking at it, but they all had shots which at AFL level you need to ice and put away, but they fudged them completely...

I think we beat them in most areas today. If we had kicked straight , we win the game. I know Filth missed a few in the last qtr but we butchered it in the 3rd when we missed 3 or 4 sitters not to mention 2.8 in the last qtr.

Once MORTON has had a good feed and a summer in the gym - he will be great.

Can't expect a youngster in the last placed team to be a stand out every week.

Thank god Rocca didn't play - he would have eaten young Cale!

3rd (?) quarter, our club runner was in the filth 50 metre zone when he shouldn't have been. A free kick was awarded that led to a goal for the filth.

A cross between Goodes/Hird/Pavlich

he will be special.

What nonsense. Morton doesn't have the natural athleticism of Goodes.

However, I DO think he will be a good, long term player for us. Gotta work on his kicking tho'. ;)

3. Bode is way out of his depth; way, way out

I thought Bode looked ok in the 1st qtr. Not great, but solid and competitive. But after 1/4 time he completely disappeared. I wasn't at the ground, so i dont know if he was on or not, but i assume he was taken off. The next time i saw him was someway thru the 3rd qtr and his confidence and skill level by then looked absolutely shot. In the end it wasn't a pretty day for Bodey, and think he is probably close to one of the first dropped. That said, it would not surprise me if DB persists with him. His strengths are his good pace and defensive work-rate, and his weaknesses his footskills and decision-making (gee, that sounds a lot like a Clint Bartram, Daniel Bell... or Daniel Ward!). Daniel Bell looks likely to be dropped this week so Bode may well stay.

I think DB might be keen to see more of what he can do in a midfield run-with role, or as he's playing now, on the opposition crumber, in the latter half of the season.

Against the tide of opinion I thought PJ was way below average today for a player who's meant to be a big imposing presence to the opposition.

He simply didn't do enough in the forward line when given the opportunity - didn't go hard enough at the tackle, didn't go hard enough at the mark on at least three occasions and made poor decisions when in possession within fifty.

By my count, his ineptitude cost us three clear goal opportunities.

I agree. I particularly remember a mark inside 50 on the flank. Should have had a shot but tried to pass off. Very ordinary. A big man like that can easily make the distance.

I watch PJ, and all our ruckmen, quite closely (every week), and i have to say from what i saw, i disagree with you. All but one of his disposals hit their target and I can think of only 2 occassions where he could have been more competitive or gone harder at the mark when inside 50. Both times, he got his hands to the ball, and although he didnt complete the marks, he wasnt outmarked, and still provided a contest and spillage, but lacked support at ground level.

Also, in the last minute before 3/4 time he took a mark inside 50 on the flank near the boundary, and could have gone back and had a low percentage shot, but quickly squared the ball to Garland in the corridor, who hit Green, who went back and kicked the goal from directly in front. He also hit a forward (one of Green or Sylvia i think) inside 50 with a nice low middle-distance pass from the midfield, but the subsequent shot was missed.

Unfortunately I wasn't at the ground today so i can't comment on his work off the ball, but theres never been any doubt about his work-ethic before, so i'd imagine that wasn't an issue today.

What play in particular did u find so inept?
