Very solid today and looked at ease for once, took the game on a bit and ran well.

almost kicked a great goal on the run, took the players on, just a little off target...

He was reasonable.

Cant see him becoming a top liner, but I said the same thing about Garland

He was alright today, warrents another shot next week. He needs to have a couple of games before we can make a true jugement on him.

His old man started as good classy player who automatically cut it at AFL. He got better and became a Bluey holder and a very skilled player.

After 5yrs, CJ is still well short of where his father started.

Notwithstanding that he has 10 rounds to avoid the cut. He does not want to take a false step from here.

Alan Johnson was 26 when he came to Melbourne, it is not a fair comparison.

thoughts on his game today? i thought he was solid... used the ball well generally...

16 posessions, 8 marks, 3 tackles... quiet in the first half, but definately contributed in the second half...

Usefull. Not up to his game standard of Sandy, recently but thats OK, he'll build on that.

It's difficult to star in a side your not familiar with that is also struggling for form & confidance.

I'm looking forward to a bigger game from all next week against a bigger & better foe.

nothing to loose by givign him another couple of games to prove himself. Not like there are people banging down the door for his spot!!!

Yze Magic... what is with your "where amazing happens" signature? Firstly Natanui hasnt even been drafted by us so your jumping the gun a little there....Cheney has hardly even played for sandy let alone Melbourne, and Dunn Buckley and Bartram have yet to prove they will be anything more than fringe players......maybe you should re adjust the "where amazing happens" group...

Fair comment.

Regardless he is not in his father's class.

Too true... Id go as far as to suggest but for his lineage he wouldnt even be playing AFL !! A sevicable VFL player..and thats it.

He didn't blow my socks off, but he worked hard and went hard and that's all you can really ask from someone who hasn't played senior footy consistently... well ever.

Daniher never showed enough faith in him to play him consistently. And yes I know he hasn't shown a lot in 5 years, but neither did Godfrey ;)

The point is, he deserves to play out the season and gain some confidence. We're already on our way to a spoon, so we've got nothing to lose. Once and for all can we find out whether he's worth anything, or whether he was a waste of a F/S pick? Otherwise he might spend another couple of years clogging our list, or worse we'll let him go and he'll turn into a gun (highly unlikely, but we are the Melbourne Football Club, so nothing would surprise me).

The one thing he has, is a bit of dash. In a team of slow plodders (who I love dearly), that's an excellent trait to have.

I was happy with Johno, took the game on, had good skills, found some of the ball for the first time EVER!! Deserves spot next week.

i agree... especially with the way we play football now under Bailey that dash is all important... doesn't have the blistering speed of Buckley, but still pretty quick and tends to use the ball better...

good point on the kick ins too... looked much more confident taking them than bell has all season... managed to spot targets outside 50 pretty easily...

also took some of the kickin's today and was very penetrating....

it is one of the best point kick-in's clinic today!!

persist with Chris, showed something today!!

I must admit I didn't notice who took the kick-ins; I did notice that they were a hell of a lot better this week. In other games I have thought that the opposition would rather kick a point than a goal as they would get 7 points, not 1.

oh no!!!!! Bailey is a figment of our imaiginations as well????

I'd hate to break off topic guys, but I can't help but tell Cards13 that Jesus was in fact a real person, whether you believe him to be God or not. Gosh, if you're gonna make a controversial comment, at least get your facts right.

And back to CJ...

I definitely see him as a player that Bailey should persist with. With Bell and Morton out of form, this is his perfect opportunity for him to become a regular component of the team. He won't see the game on fire, but his good running ability will make him a valuable component of Bailey's run and carry game plan. Give him the next 2-3 games and I reckon he could come up with a few 20+ possesion games.

Correct, he was also dark skinned as well as being married and having several kids.

Wel it was probably CJs best game yet.... still not stunning, but I thought in defence he showed enough to get another week.

That said, if he doesn't life at least another few notches by seasons end I'm still off him...

Dogma was a great movie, however my comments weren't born from it.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
