Mundy, Murphy and Warnock for picks 17, 18 and 34?

Just asking, not suggesting.

I wonder if the presence of Chris Connolly at the club will entice any of those players?

Really don't know much about Murphy, enlightenment welcome.

Mundy would be an interesting pick up, maybe able to introduce CJ to the deal so as not to have to give away much in the way of high draft picks for him

Opens up an interesting scenario should we be in a priority draft pick situation

Say Kerr really is disgruntled and goes into the PSD and we could get him at # 1 ...that would add extra zip to the midfield, so drafting Rich becomes less of a priority

We could trade a draft pick 17 / 18 for Warnock...so drafting Natanui becomes less of a priority

We could then use draft pick # 1 to take KPP Hurley...we could really do with someone who can play KPP forward and back ala Scott Lucas

Picking up Mundy would be an added bonus

This scenario would address many of the holes in our list and all players have many years left in them [barring injury], and with the exception of Kerr we won't have to worry about wasting quality draft picks on young interstate talent who may develop the homesick syndrome [e.g. Scott Thompson]

Looked promising in 2006 when he kicked 22 goals in 12 games including 2 against us in that semi final.

Keeped out of the side by Pavlich and Tarrant since. I'd give up pick 34 for him.

Being kept out of the side by Tarrant would raise alarm bells for me.

If we could by any chance nab either of Warnock or Mundy I would be ecstatic, it would be a great pick up.

Murphy I'm less sure of, but I would still support us picking him up. I mean a young tall forward who has 20 odd games behind him and is about to reach his prime is nothing to snort at..

I wouldn't do that.

I'll trade for Warnock. Hopefully he nominates a club and we can play a bit of hardball with Freo . Offer 34 + fringe. I'll think about 18.

I'm not sure with Mundy as he's a nice player but he floats around looking for possessions. Doesn't play as tight as he should. Look at 34 but that's as high as i'll go.

As for Murphy, for some reason his reputation has far outshone what his produced. Staggering really. Both Freo's coach have said, Pavlova needs support in the fwdline yet Murphy can't crack it. He has been there for a long time and I wouldn't give up anything higher then pick 50?.

Too similar to Wheatley perhaps? I'm not having a go at Wheatley but they do play similar roles.

Warnock - Definitely target for PSD, or give Freo a token draft pick.

Mundy - Good player, but doesn't solve our need for a strong KP backman.

Murphy - Potentially good player, but I wouldn't give anything more than a 3rd round draft pick for him.

Mundy - will be a star once he gets out of Lolmantle

Warnock - 206cm tap ruckman, will be elite

Murphy - wouldnt touch him, extremely overrated

Ideally we could get Mundy for pick 18, and get Warnock for free in the PSD.

I am not keen on passing on top 30 picks. Mundy could be ok, and Warnock looks decent enough. These guys IMO are the sorts of guys you put in late picks for (pick 30-45).

None of these guys are stars, and could even slip through to the PSD. I whink better players will be on offer come seasons end.

Murphy surprises me, I really thought him and Pavlich would be a very competent forward tandem by now but he hasn't progressed.

Mundy and Warnock would be great additions, not sure what we could give up though but i'd be disappointed if it was any pick in the first 20. Draft picks are going to be like gold this year with 2 new teams on the horizon and likely to get a fair share of the top talent over the next few years. Perhaps a fringe player and a third round pick for one and force the other to the psd.

Of the three it would be Mundy I'd be targetting. Would absolutely be suited to the list that the club is trying to build around. With Rivers, Frawley, Wheatley and Mundy - all of a sudden the back line has depth in terms of height and speed. They're not all true KPP, but backlines now can only afford one true gorilla (and I think Stef Martin is being groomed for that role to replace Carroll), the rest all have to be able to push up the ground and be able to use the ball well. I like Mundy a far safer bet than Warnock IMO.

Mundy - He is a younger version of Wheatley imo. Won't be elite but will contribute for a solid 8 years more with the regular 22.

Warnock - Someone we really should look at getting, there is still a high high high chance we will not get the number 1 pick as we are not blooding youth and completely bottoming out. So that means we probably won't get Naita. With White to retire this year or the year after, PJ coming along, our ruck division would be set.

Murphy - All the talent in the world, think he may benifit getting out of Freo. But to me, he is just like Newton, not a strong guy, attitude is questioned.

I opened this thread to propose the same comparison myself actually. He's very highly rated by many in the footy world, but there's something NQR. I'm yet to see any evidence at all as to why people rate him so highly.

Murphy is a quality player just not getting an opportunity, kicking plenty in the WAFL but due to the investment in Tarrant can't get a regular senior game, I would love to see him have the chance to string together 10+ senior games and then make a decision on him. He has a very good kicking action and would be one of the best shots for goal getting around, I also think his pace and contested marking ability are superior to that of any of our younger guys.

I think they should all be on our radar, but more so Warnock and Mundy, they both fit into the vision of where our club's going and they sound like they could both forced a spot in the 22. Don't know about Murphy, honestly can't comment on his abilities or whether he'll fit into the side.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
