Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes it would appear so dc.

Not sure why but I feel a lot of angst on Demonland today.

Perhaps I need a banana sandwich for lunch.

I think I had too much sugar yesterday, at a friend's 60th birthday party so my aggro levels are running hot.

I'll never have two desserts again.

well it was you who brought up the connection to olympic sports

remember?

and like you i'm not bothered either way. just another example of the hypocritical world we live in

Yes, I was comparing the inequalities of Beach Volleyball. Where the women wear skimpy bikinis and the men wear shorts and singlets.

Sounds familiar? In the NFL the men wear full padding and outfits in the the Lingerie League and the women wear bikinis....

This faux outrage is hilarious, our society is ful of sexism, hell, since companies have started marketing their products they've used sex and the female body, I have no idea why the Lingerie League is suddenly getting people uptight.

If it was last Friday the 13th I could understand it Jarka.

But alas like you I am struggling too.

TV networks have the right to air stupid programming for stupid people.

We don't have to like it but we don't have to watch it either. I wasn't even aware of this Lingerie footy thing until this thread.

Someone must be watching it, they wouldn't make it if it wasn't going to make them money.

I guess it'd be nice to live in a world where this sort of crap isn't economically viable. Until the audience at large grows up, the networks will continue to pander to their baser appetites.

Easier to just avoid commercial TV altogether.

Well actually with these new digital TV channels I think you'll find if that if someone makes a program for free and it will be watched by anyone at all then they'll air it. 7mate may be paying a bit for a broadcast deal to help supplement the costs of production but if they are screening in 10:30 on a Saturday night on mate I think most of the costs will be covered by the league. So in all likelihood the crowd attending the game is supplementing the broadcast on TV which in turn is hoping to draw more to the games.

I presume other sports in particular womens sports would do the same plus would add some government funding to make it all happen +/- be broadcast on the ABC.

Not sure if serious.

Very serious. Women have the right to be upset by the LFL, but I can't see how it's sexist. They aren't playing in those uniforms because men forced them to.

Do you know what's sexist. Men and women tennis players getting paid the same when men offer a far superior product. That's sexism.

Oh for goodness' sake, the fact that some women choose to wear those uniforms, and to be paid for doing so, does not make it any less sexist.

Men's sport, played seriously does not resort to blokes jumping around in jock straps.

Of course it's sexist. The name says it's women running around in underwear jumping on each other.

Funnily enough, I agree with you about women's tennis. Equal pay for two, often whitewash sets, is a gift when you think the blokes so often fight out four, or five long advantage sets.

But the lingerie league - absolute sexist crap. If the sport was any good they'd wear regulation gridiron gear.

Where does it say that?

Maybe you've got it confused with one of your old videos.

Yeah but if womens tennis was any good then Sharapova would wear a decent dress like they did in the 1960's. If Rihanna could sing she'd get up on stage wearing more than whatever she does now, same goes for Miley. None of that might be to your taste but once again I've awfully confused as to how that is sexism.

if JK likes to hang out with crooks and watch the LFL then thats no big deal by me. Just shows his type. As if the tats were not a dead giveaway. I have more of a problem of society becoming the revived version of the consorting squad. I bet JK gets close and personal to those lingerie babes every other day. Others who only whinge get a long distance eyefull at best.

I've awfully confused as to how that is sexism.

Sexism is defined as:

1. Discrimination based on gender, especially discrimination against women.

2. Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on gender.
The LLF is an an event that involves women dressed in lingerie (note not sporting attire but clothes that are designed to specifically sexually titillate) performing for the gratification of men (in an event owned and promoted by a man) that promotes the stereotype of women as sexual objects (objectifying women in the process and making a mockery of serious women's sports)
Perhaps you are thinking of definition 1 but surely any right thinking person would concede that such a scenario meets the definition of sexism.
Perhaps you don't think it meets this definition, that's up to you. I won't bother to try and convince you further.
But as Choke notes above this drivel exists because of the demand for it. It seems to be we are going backwards and some of the posts in this thread merely reinforce that view.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
