Tom McDonald Re-Signs for 4 Years
Fully pumped, massive signing. Flying down Thursday night for 5 days. Can’t wait for Monday.

Round 11 Non-MFC Games
Fair call, their losing margin has reduced significantly this year. Definitely playing a better brand of footy this year.

So what will this weeks upsets be? Suns over the Cats? Bombers over the Tigers? Hawks v Port will be interesting.

Tom McDonald Contract Talks
It’s all about salary rotation. TMac is at the peak of his powers and will be paid accordingly. Gawn is currently in the middle of his, Jones is out of contract next year, whilst he will no doubt go on he’s had his time at the top. Petracca still has to earn his. At the end of the day we may lose someone but the majority should stay at the club.

Tom McDonald Contract Talks
Depends on criteria, key forwards that can take the big park marks in crucial moments are valuable.

Changes vs Adelaide
A couple of posters offering up Smith’s stats. If we are being honest if we were asked straight after the game (without checking the numbers) for our thoughts on his game/impact would the two align? In Viney was given another run in the two’s and Tyson played would we still call for no changes. Regardless of the result we should be playing our best available.

GAMEDAY - Round 9
Hogan needs to stop playing for frees. Go hard unless you hear the whistle.

GAMEDAY - Round 9
I flew down under the cover of darkness on Friday night. I’ve brought some family to their first game, looking forward to a big win. Today I’d like to see us tighten up defensively inside our fwd 50. When opposition teams try to kick it out long we set up pretty well but when they go the short kick then a series of handballs or short kick/hand ball receive run and kick when get caught wanting.

Round 9 Non MFC Games ... Shanghai Dumplings
Did anyone see Talia get pinned for taking the legs of the Bulldogs player, that was a disgraceful call and goes against what the game is about.

Round 8 Non MFC games
Some dubious umpiring already in the North v Tigers game.

Changes v The Blues
You’re probably right with regards to injury opening the door for Pedo, I just feel Weideman’s year in terms of development v output needs to be managed.
-
Changes v The Blues
I think the Weed will be a player for us in the future but for where we are right now I think Pedo would have more of an impact when we come up against more hardened opposition. Crashing packs and creating contests is what happens when you’re not marking and converting the footy. Yes Weideman is competing, ( the contested marks against the Bombers/Saints were great) and he also has good 2nd efforts in his tackling. But for mine if he at times is struggling against weaker opposition the club needs to weigh up our opponent when selecting him, hence a balanced approach.

Changes v The Blues
I mentioned last week that Jeffy mat come in to give Spargo a rest.

Changes v The Blues
Whilst I understand what the club is doing with the Weed there’s needs a balanced approach. Currently playing 3 talks up forward gives us a lot of flexibility, so after the Carlton game Pedo should come in for the Weed. Against the Crows we can’t afford any passengers, there will be opportunities later in the year for him to get more games but as it stands he’s not in our best 22.

What is the Weid's role
Yes we could swap Weed for TMac but not for Hogan. I like what Hogan brings to the team but I don’t see him as the deepest forward, Hogan doesn’t take the big pack marks and his goal kicking lets him down at times. Using him in his current role is far more damaging. Getting to my original point by playing Weed as the deepest forward for the next two games (against weaker opposition) removes any confusion (at times 2 forwards going for the same mark) and let’s him focus solely on one role. He should be told regardless of goals/marks etc that is his role for rounds 8 & 9.

What is the Weid's role
When Jeffy is on he’s on and yes we are all aware of his down time. But we need to remember at some stage Spargo/Fritsch will need to be managed as not to burn them out.

What is the Weid's role
I’m not an expert but.... I’d like to see the Weed play out of the square and I think we should bring Jeffy back in and play him at his feet. Then have Hogan and TMac rotating between pushing up the ground and TMac swapping with Gawn in the ruck. I’d instruct our mids to try and hit him up on the lead rather than bomb in it to him. We know he can take a high mark but we shouldn’t be relying on it. The next weeks gives us the perfect opportunity to try this.

The run from here
So far we’ve beaten North currently in 7th, 4 wins Bombers in 15th, 2 wins Saints in 16th, 1 win and 1 draw Lions in 17th, 0 wins 6th - 11th are all on 16 points. All things considered I think we have quite a good draw, all teams cop interstate travel and so far this year Sydney, Adelaide, West Coast and Geelong have all copped home losses.
