  1. How is the AFLW travelling right now? Be honest…. It’s a mess, how many seasons and we’ve got games with score lines like ones we saw over the weekend where it was 11 to 14. Or we’ve got blowouts like 24 to 81. I don’t personally watch the AFLW but I think there’s a place for it. Problem is it’s been handled poorly from the start, expanded way too quickly now we’re left a less than satisfactory product. I can’t believe anyone thinks this competition is ready for expansion, as I said in a post weeks ago I’m all for Tassie having a team as it rounds out the competition nicely but a Melbourne based team must make way.
  2. As a supporter living in Sydney I’d like to play the Giants at Engie stadium as I’ve never been, not a fan of the SCG at all. Id like to have our Anzac Eve & Kings birthday on alternative years. Geelong st the G. People need to remember that most if not all Melbourne based clubs request to play the Pies at the G as they’re guaranteed a crowd and bigger gate takings even if their home ground is Marvel. We need to earn the right to better time slots back.
  3. I’m sure we’re smart enough as a club not to pick someone just based on their surname. Latrelle has talent but just how good he could become is a punt as it is with every draftee.
  4. If he backs himself to play a certain way now as he grows and benefits from multiple AFL preseasons there’s no reason to think he won’t. Moves well but more importantly looks to kick to a team mates advantage. Took a nice mark going back with the flight of the ball. I thought he used his left once or twice early in the clip but I may have that wrong, need to rewatch it.
  5. Hawks have 10, the article says they’re interested if we can believe what’s written.
  6. During trade week they spoke to Brenton Sanderson, he spoke about removing the pick associated when picking a player. He said if you need a certain type of player for your club you draft him regardless of where other clubs might have him. Obviously the first few players pick themselves and you take best available initially but when drafting for needs kicks in you take what you need. As I said in the pick 7 & 8 thread, as quick as someone highlights a potential draftee’s attributes someone else listed their deficiencies.
  7. Hawks have 10 & 22, Bulldogs have 14 & 33.
  8. Thoughts on his kicking?
  9. Possibly not but it’s all a gamble. Will Phillips went pick 3 in 2020 another week draft and would have been tracked his whole career as a junior, he’s just been delisted. That same draft Holmes went at 20 and Gulden at 32.
  10. So is it fair to say that after the first 6 live picks everyone is a risk. Everytime someone posts links to a certain player in the draft some posters will be on board whilst others will highlight his flaws. Some have realised we may not get Trac’s replacement this year, I’d personally go best mid available at 7 and Latrelle Picket at 8. He won’t be around for our 3rd pick and we need another small fwd or two and the thought of two dangerous Picketts running around is too good to knock back. Next year we can target another gun mid but there won’t be another Pickett.
  11. @Demonland the “clear editor” function no longer works or is it just me? It pops up then disappears just as quick.
  12. A couple of very nice kicks there into the fwd 50.
  13. Cal Twomey has Dovaston at 18 (what happened there?) and Pickett at 24. Unless we trade up we’re not getting a gun mid, I hope we land Pickett.
  14. Well that’s disappointing, I watched another highlights reel of him yesterday and on a couple of occasions he took a nice contested mark or won his own ball but yes this is just a snapshot. On the flip side at 7 & 8 were left some options that aren’t great kicks. As good as Trac and Oliver were in winning the contested ball their kicking let the them down. Correcting kicking techniques doesn’t seem an easy fix.
  15. In 2024 he averaged 1.7 tackles per games, that increased to 3.5 in 2025. You’d think someone spoke to him about improving that aspect of his game.

  17. I think this is the problem, we (myself included) have / had a mindset of a need for instant replacement for Trac and Oliver. Many were jumping up and down until we signed Steele who is as close to as we could get a replacement for Oliver. So now we just need to draft an elite a mid to replace Trac and all is good again. From the clips I’ve watched of Robey, Dovaston and Lindsay, Lindsay for me is by far the best kick and one of the biggest knocks of the games of Trac and Oliver was their kicking. His profile says small defender / mid at 183cm but from the vision looks to play a half back distributor role, obviously this can change once he matures in the AFL system. We shouldn’t be picking a mid just for the sake of it, even if we drafted another Langford how much would that influence where we finish next season? We can go after another mid with our first pick in 2026. We need more players that can kick and another small fwd with natural ability. Lindaay and Pickett for me.
  18. I’ve watched a few clips today of players likely to available around 7 & 8 and Lindsay for me is by the best kick in that range.
  19. I haven’t seen him live or followed his junior career maybe others have, I can only go of what’s on you tube and I would disagree.
  20. I watched all of the available footage on you tube of Dovaston and I’m not sold on him. Kicks a nice goal from the boundary and some other regulation set shots but also misses a couple, nothing that screams natural fwd craft. Field kicking is average to ordinary with a few up and under / turn over kicks, fumbles a bit in certain passages and plays for the high free kick once or twice. Not a lot of vision of his marking ability. As I said earlier in the week he’s very busy buzzing around everywhere and runs hard to link up and create opportunity but doesn’t seem very damaging by foot and that’s what we need.
  21. I only have what I watch on you tube to go by, having said that I just watched a 5 minute clip and half a 6 minute clip of Dovastan to see what the hype was about, little bit underwhelming to be honest. Whilst he keeps himself busy buzzing around there’s not a lot of footage of him marking the ball, his disposal by foot is hardly elite, on one or two occasions he plays for the free, he kicks one nice goal and shanks another hitting the behind post. I’ll have another look tomorrow at all his clips because I must be missing something.,
