WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
The coaches have to be really strong with regards to the gifting of games. Grimes copped it last year, Watts was introduced to the concept, as long as it's consistent.

And it coincides with a year that three overpaid footballers collectively worth about 1.2 million coming out of contract. We we simply can not [censored] this up. That fact we were proactive last year was a good sign but as many have alluded to already we must win more games. 10 isn't a pass this year as we should have beaten Saints/Bombers/Blues last year. To win more games we must eliminate all passengers as the players are flat out of excuses.

Tom McDonald was also getting big wraps in the first half of last year and his name was being thrown up as an early contender for AA, as his form dropped away so did the discussion surrounding him. Kidding myself about Jones at Hawthorn?

Hogan got plenty of wraps last year for kicking 44 goals and being third for contested marks in his first season. If Jones was at Hawthorn he would be regarded as solid contributor in a team full of guns.

I'd take Jones. Jones game has improved where as Cotchins has stalled. Plus I believe Cotchin has had better support around him. Jones for me. Delidio is another story.

One thing that has gone against Cotchin is his failure (and his teams) to turn up in finals. Would love to see Jones play in one either this year or next, that could well change the way he is viewed by the football public.

Jones game went to a new level two years ago under Roos/Stone. His disposal and awareness improved, he started to think his way through situations and take the better option rather than barge his way 2-3 tacklers. As good as he is and as much as we love him he's not in the same class as Hodge/Bartell/Pendles etc.

Yes. Leigh Mathews said before the 2004 GF an injured Johno Brown is still better than the next best available.

Your last sentence would allude to that. "had to improve this part of his game to ensure he gets a game".

What I don't like is that our club still try's to get itself up for certain games. I'm sick of hearing that the Collingwood game is our biggest game of the year. We have players who still don't come to play every week. We need to set ourselves for every game, when did we last beat Hawthorn/North/Port/Eagles?? We can't simply wait until these teams slide before we think we're a chance. Any player should debut when he is ready not be held back for some trivial reason. If it just so happens to be against Collingwood or should we make finals this year or next so be it. I'd rather play a first year player who has earned the right rather than go with a senior player who has had years to perform and deliver nothing. 90% of talent on this list is 23 or younger.- The No T$ No B$ Thread

Why isn't Weitering a forward? Great mark, reads the play well...., in a write up about Schache it talks of accuracy on goals. Everyone grows up wanting to be the forward who kicks the goals. Carlton also need a forward line, I think the order is far from settled.
