  1. Re outside speed I don't think Roos values it as highly as playing accountable two way footy. The reason we are getting smashed on the outside is work rate, ability to apply pressure to cause opposition to turn the ball over, and not turning the ball over through poor decision making and skill execution. To often we are too loose and fail to apply enough pressure on the opposition, which is even worse when we turn the ball over. Re Howe, Roos praised that Howe played the best low posession half he's ever seen v Geelong. For whatever reason Howe wanted to play for Collingwood and we ended up with Ben Kennedy which worked out poorly. Re Dunn, I really liked him as a player but for whatever reason fell out of favour. We chose to instead play Oscar and Frost and brought in stop gaps like Georgiou. Lever should be a 10 year player and elite intercept defender with strong leadership credentials, and while it will take a few more years to determine if the trade works out, is the sort of player who helps build the right culture. Re Tyson and Salem v Kelly, Tyson was important in turning our team from a rabble to a team that could beat sides. I think he hasn't been the same since he hurt his knee and also our inside mids are elite at winning the ball. Salem would probably be our best player so far this year and is playing at an elite level. We do need to bring in a Josh Kelly or similar player to complement our existing midfield. I was sad to see Kent go but understand that we weren't prepared to match St Kilda's offer given his inability to string games together. In summary I don't think our speed is a big problem and definitely not the reason we are losing. We are simply not playing the way we should and need to keep chipping away and hopefully win our share of games before getting into form and smashine the opposition. With how we are playing it's highly unlikely we will challenge this year.
  2. Re Stretch I thought it was his best game at AFL level. On previous occasions he's tended to get lost in the speed of the game but last night in such a pressure game he consistently won or halved contests, was good with the ball and looked to gain confidence as the game wore on. Hope he backs up with a good game next week and builds confidence from here.
  3. Buckley is pretty switched on and great to listen to when he talks footy and also delicate topics.
  4. Chook, we had similar issues in the first 4 rounds last year before we worked into form and won 6 in a row heading into the bye, where we had a poor loss to Collingwood where we played ok, had a bad loss to St Kilda and then we're in red hot form v WCE, GWS and then Geelomg and Hawthron in the finals. Last year when we were winning Goodwin had a similar message that we were working to improve and still not playing the way we want. Goodwin has been consistent throughout and I have confidence our Footy Department will get us playing well at the pointy end of the season but it will be a matter of being able to tick over some ugly wins and get to playing our way sooner rather than later. The way we are playing there is alot to fix and with Hawks and WCE in the next couple of weeks there is a good chance we will be 1 - 7 which would practically mean Finals are out of the picture, which is pretty much the case already.

The text size grows and shrinks automatically based on our collective mood.
  6. Jake the Snake killing it in the midfield. Jack Watts like in his delivery but mad as a cut snake around the ball.
  7. His forward half pressure will be import t to our structure and one of our main issues re ground ball gets and he can lead up and take a contested mark

Whats with the 4-5 week? Is it a slightly more optimistic version of the dreaded '4-6 week' which results in 2 - 3 games peppered in by end of season, or is it something entirely new that we have not before experienced?

Or the Geelong player not getting suspended for breaking silvias jaw in VFL praccy
  10. Tom Morris is a Tom Morris fan.
  11. Tom Morris is a feltcher od the highest order. He said the same thing last year re McCartney just before we went and won 6 on the trot. Put up or shut up muppet.
  12. A simple solution would be for everyone to meet in person once a year and explain themselves. There are quite a few keyboard warriors who write stuff here that there is no way they would say in person. I'd suggest that before posting people should ask themselves if they would say in person what they are posting.
  13. Whats up with all of the negative Nance's?? Don't worry be happy ?
  14. Looking forward to this - Dees!
  15. Is it too early to start the call to bring back Michael 'The Juice' Newton?
  16. We will smash Ninthmond, mark my words.
  17. Hogan and Kent were good today
  18. A positive is that we come out of the match with no injuries - Dees!
  19. I'd suggest the club dietitians have been central to JV's approach to his diet.
  20. Looking forward to hearing from the resident dietitians on here who earn a good living in tailoring elite athletes diets to maximise performance. Over to you...

In fairness that is a throwback from an era where our VFL team would probably beat our AFL team.

From experience I'd say a 4-6 week injury is much longer than a 6 week injury.
