Add Tmac and May who likely wont play much AFL next year.

The Ox Worried About the Dees in 2026
The flipside of the Ox's argument is that we have underperformed with our list over the past 2 seasons and eith the talent on our list should be performing much better. While we wont cover the loss of Trac, and to a lesser extent Oliver, an extra preseason into Langford, Windsor, Lindsay, Rivers etc, and the addition of Steele should mitigate this loss and hopefully we play with a bit more freedom. Its worth noting how Collingwood really struggled late in Buck's tenure and then started their unbelievable run with McRae which also came off the back of the Daicos boys.

Training Ground?
This makes no sense. Its pretty straightforward for the State and Federal Government to announce the funding along with tge statement that Melbourne, the oldest sporting club in the world has the worst facilities and has receieved the peast funding in the league, and that thid announcement brings Melbourne in line eith the other clubs. Addituonally it will provide more soace for the existing codes in the MCG Precint and also support the MCG redevelopment.

Welcome to Demonland: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett
I think Latrelle is a prgamatic choice in that: He fits our need for a dynamic and creative small forward. His inclusion in our 22 allows Kossie to spend more time in the midfield, while both Pickett's in the forward line makes for a dynamic mix. Latrelle's weaknesses such as defencive workrate can be worked on and Kossie is an excellent role model for his cousin. Strengthens Kossie's ties to our club provided Latrelle performs well.

Jeff White on Dee’s F50 Connection in 2026
A good listen. My takeaway is that if we can generate enoug clearances, more than the Dogs in 2025, then we don't need to improve goal assists and scores per inside 50.

Thanks is there a shorter version, say 30 secs long? This goes for a whole 20 mins.

Melbourne's Hunt for New Head of Football
Could it be that while Richo is consulted on changes his involvement is not in a decision making capacity but rather to use his existing relationships with staff and players to help communicate changesand smooth the transition.

Incoming Presidents Message to Members
I thi k you will find clubs such as St Kilda and North give out free memberships to juniors who play for local football clubs or go to school in their area. A more relevant measure is membership revenue as it cuts through all of the junk and $1 memberships that to my knowldge the MFC doesn't promote.

Training Ground?
Indeed. It also wouldn't surprise me if the design work has already been done to a level that a Contractor is able to be engaged to start preparing the site immediately once we have an agreement with the Caufield Trust, State Government and AFL, with additionally planning requirements submitted and approved in readiness for the construction. Taking this approach two years is realistic.

Throw picks 7 and 8 at him

Training Ground?
If anything offering a stable long term tenancy without the drama of the MRC should make us an appealing prospect for the Trust. Surely they look at the MRC and think what are these muppets doing.

Tigga Johnstone (father/son)
Im assuming other clubs have fathers who have had sons too
-
Oliver Green (father/son)
Thanks Trigon, I was actually being facetious but realised tone doesn't really come through. We have some excition father son prospects with Kalani White, Noah Yze and Oliver Green. Who else am I missing? Are the Robbo or Neita kids coming through?
-
Oliver Green (father/son)
Not to rain on the parade but the AFL will change father/son rules and Oilver will end up at Collingwood.

Building to our next flag
I feel that a key part of Trac and Oliver moving on is that it becomes our younger players midfield, with Gawn, Viney, Steele etc to guide them but in a way that hands over the mantle to our young core of players. I'd expect Langford, Lindsay, Windsor, Kossie etc to be really excited about the fresh start and imagine our older players will enjoy the fresh start. While I think we will be up and down next year I'm hopeful that we will hit our straps and could achieve anything by seasons end.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
All of these players are on our list snd tracking well. For reference Charlie Curnow was drafted in 2015 and in his first 5 seasons averaged 1 goal per game. In his first 3 seasons JVR is averaging 1.5 goals per game.

Bailey Humphrey
While it seems all but certain tha Humphrey wont be joining us this trade period I have had a heap of fun on here and will keep a close eye on Humphrey's 2026 campaign. He seems like a good character to have in a footy club and hopefully we secure a good 2026 pick that can go towards chasing him next year.

Bailey Humphrey
I'd trust an anonymous member of a supporter forum whom I've never met that is posting updates while on the toilet at a bbq over the hack so called journalists.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
In hindsight we should have traded Clarry in 2022. While his trade value might be lower than last year (who knows what Geelong offered and how that compares to GWS) it does privide King and our new Footy Department to set clear expections re standards that will help drive our culture. I suspect the way we handled Oliver since 2022 probably wouldn't sit well with players wanting more time on ball and without moving on Clarry at best we don't develop our young midfield and more likely have players want to leave.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Or perhaps other clubs have a good understanding of the risk they are taking on re Clarry and we need him off our list to move forward. I love a redemption story but there is no way we would be trading Clarey if he was meeting lur expectstions as a professional footballer.

Bailey Humphrey
Perhaps a middle ground is that we accept picks 7 and 8 for Trac, don't provide GCS with the required picks to secure both of their academy players, they draft one and we draft the other, and then in 12 months time see if us/GCS want to do a trade involving Humphrey for their academy pick. BOOM!

Farewell Clayton Oliver
By the looks of it the absolute worst outcome would be to keep Oliver on our list. In the AFL he would take up an onball position at the expense of a Langford, Windsor or Rivers, and there is no point having him run around in the VFL without even considering the likelihood of him relapsing if he is not getting games at the top level. It feels like we are walking a tightrope of trying to retool our list without going into a rebuild. To do this we need to turn the Petracca, Oliver and McVee picks into under 25 year old talent, get their money off our TPP and free up cap space so we can chase free agents over the next few years. I'd be happy to keep Trac if the club feels he will fully buy into the new Footy Department and not request a trade next year, but if we feel he will go no matter what then we are pribably best of getting the best deal we can which means trading him this year.
