Is this his way of saying Caulfield is done wothout saying it directly.

This - I'm tired of the hyperbole that our State Government is bankrupt. Being bankrupt means we can't pay our bills, which is clearly not the case. My personal take is that the club is quiet re Caulfield at the direction of the State Government pending an announcement re funding. While there may be some finer details to sort out, I would expect the silence is more to do with timing an announcement with the election rather than any genuine blocker. You don't annoy members with silence for the sake of it unless you expect positive news, especially when you have a clean slate with a new Coach, CEO and President.

The MRC as a stakeholder is a tenant and nothing more. They don't have a say in whether we are able to lease the area inside the racecourse. While it helps that all stakeholders are aligned and supportive the MRC is not a decision maker.

How does the Australian Open intend to expand its facilities around Gotch's paddock. The dog walkers would be up in arms.

First 6 rounds
Of those the GCS and Brisbane are the team I'd least want to come up against. The others are a bit flakey and I think we will win our fair share against middle table sides.

Inside GameDay Access against Richmond
Great to see the club putting some focus into social media and supporter engagement. The membership campaign video was brilliant and more of this sort of material is good for our brand.

The Doctor will tell him Caulfield's a bust and that while his knee is ok he will be training at Waverley Park.

What I took from the article was that Betsy works for or represents the MRC. Absolute slop journalism if you can even call it journalism.

Documentary Episode on Simon Goodwin's Sacking
It feels like an unnecessary distraction. A bit like when players get engaged, married or have children during the season. Sure its nice and I'm happy foe them and all but I do worry about the impact of the distraction on their week to week preparation.

Awaken Your Demon in 2026
Absolutely brilliant. The only opportunity they missed was bemoaning not having a home to bring the club under one roof and somewhere for supporters to congregate 😅.

PF it is the same for the racecourse which is designated as public space. I dont think there are too many dog walkers on the racecourse during tue Caulfield Cup.

Spot on Redleg, it isnt difficult to hold the line that our main training ground is Gotch's Paddock until such time as Caulfield is approved and State and Federal Governments chip in the $70 million. If they come up short I would be holding onto Gotch's and sub leasing it to the Filth to cover the interest and principal.

2026 Injury List
I'd add that with Viney injured and on light duties will have positive impact on other injured players that he is aroubd. His leadership and professionalism is a huge asset and it will also provide more opportunity for Steele to perform a similar on field role. I'm also not sure if both Viney and Steele together fit into our best 22, we cannot play them both on ball with Pickett, Langford, Windsor, Rivers and whoever else i've missed running through there.

The $30 million evenly split btw State and Federal Government seems roughly inline with other clubs. I do wonder if we end up self funding whether we would press the AFL to uninvite or at least make State and Federal Government officials pay to attend any matches that we play in.

Per other comments above I cannot see the State Government not contributing given they have an obligation to contribute financially to the facilities of all Victorian AFL clubs, that we have recieved by far the least funding of all AFL clubs and have the worst facilities of any AFL clubs. If this is genuinely a stumbling block then perhaps we start talks with the NT Governments re what they could offer if we relocate.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
My read was May was advised that the club would look to play its core group of younger players to setup our team for its next window and as such, barring injuries, May would probably spend most of his time at Casey. As such it encouraged May to explore opportinities elsewhere while also letting him know that he is a Melbourne player.

New Coach, New Captain?
I'd be staggered if Maxy wasn't reappointed as captain for 2026. I think the point he's trying to make is that as a leader his job is to help setup the club for the next 10 years and thats ehat he is focussed on and not being captain.

Our Aging List
Add Tmac and May who likely wont play much AFL next year.

The Ox Worried About the Dees in 2026
The flipside of the Ox's argument is that we have underperformed with our list over the past 2 seasons and eith the talent on our list should be performing much better. While we wont cover the loss of Trac, and to a lesser extent Oliver, an extra preseason into Langford, Windsor, Lindsay, Rivers etc, and the addition of Steele should mitigate this loss and hopefully we play with a bit more freedom. Its worth noting how Collingwood really struggled late in Buck's tenure and then started their unbelievable run with McRae which also came off the back of the Daicos boys.

This makes no sense. Its pretty straightforward for the State and Federal Government to announce the funding along with tge statement that Melbourne, the oldest sporting club in the world has the worst facilities and has receieved the peast funding in the league, and that thid announcement brings Melbourne in line eith the other clubs. Addituonally it will provide more soace for the existing codes in the MCG Precint and also support the MCG redevelopment.

Welcome to Demonland: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett
I think Latrelle is a prgamatic choice in that: He fits our need for a dynamic and creative small forward. His inclusion in our 22 allows Kossie to spend more time in the midfield, while both Pickett's in the forward line makes for a dynamic mix. Latrelle's weaknesses such as defencive workrate can be worked on and Kossie is an excellent role model for his cousin. Strengthens Kossie's ties to our club provided Latrelle performs well.

Jeff White on Dee’s F50 Connection in 2026
A good listen. My takeaway is that if we can generate enoug clearances, more than the Dogs in 2025, then we don't need to improve goal assists and scores per inside 50.
